List of Jeffrey S Altman's Reviews
Enjoys hearing himself talk I was referred to this office for a skin biopsy. He went on about his experience, but experience means nothing when you do not listen to your patients. He did not agree with my referring doctor about needing skin biopsies, but he only glanced at the areas I was pointing out. He came up with explanations with just a glance and without a word from me, because he would not let me talk. I insisted he do the biopsies. Biopsy results came in, I got a call saying that everything was fine. I saw the results online, they were not fine. I attended my follow-up to have the stitches removed. Dr. Altman comes in, refers to the results on a tablet and said it was all clear. He only read the headline, not the actual details. I had to point it out to him. His demeanor finally changed and he listened, so I guess that counts for something? But how can a doctor provide test results without bothering to read the full report?? He offered to consult within his office, I declined.
I brought my father who is 75 years old, to Dr. Altman for a second opinion, and even though it was farther from where we live, it was absolutely worth it. Dr. Altman spoke with my dad directly and also included my husband and me in the conversation. He treated all of us with respect while keeping my father at the center of his care. He carefully reviewed the previous biopsy results and explained them clearly. He chose to repeat a biopsy to be thorough and make sure nothing was missed, which we truly appreciated. He did not rush the visit at all. He waited for the numbing medication to take full effect, explained each step, and performed the procedure with patience and care. I also appreciated that Dr. Altman welcomed my support when I added information about my father’s symptoms and history. He listened, valued the details, and included us without taking attention away from my father. He also answered my questions without seeming rushed or bothered, which helped us feel comfortable and informed. Very grateful for Dr. Altman. The care felt thoughtful and human, and my father left with real relief after months of concern.
I was very disappointed with my recent visit. As a new patient coming in for a full-body skin exam, I expected a thorough evaluation, especially since I changed into a gown for that purpose. However, the doctor spent less than three minutes with me and barely looked at my skin. He didn’t open the gown fully, only lifted the collar briefly to glance at my back, and quickly moved on. I left the appointment feeling that I hadn’t actually been examined. Afterward, I noticed that many other reviews mentioned the same rushed and superficial experience, which made me feel even more frustrated. I wouldn’t recommend this provider to anyone seeking a careful or attentive skin check.
He's a dermatologist who's more focused on speed and seeing as many patients as he can than care and solutions. He clearly didn't remember our initial appointment and had no gauge on how my skin had been affected by the medication he prescribed. I left feeling hardly seen, with no idea why I even made the appointment.
Wouldn't do my Prior Authorization, very RUDE!!! He told my pharmacist, "bite me?!" Unbelievable!!!
I went to get rid of age spots on my face. They were a LIGHT brown. What he did was scar me with 2 DARK BROWN spots now. Dont see him. This is Sharon Prill. They want a review on how quick service was.
Dr. Altman and his staff are the best I’ve worked with as a patient, and my husband’s issues. All I have to say is that, they are is best group of staff and drs. I’ve worked with, as a patient. They have compassion and concerns about their patients. I would recommend this group to everybody with love.💕
Dr. Altman has been my dermatologist for years. I initially saw him in his private practice in Arlington Heights, but then he moved to a location that was inconvenient for me. When he returned to Park Ridge, I was delighted. I have a history of serious malignant melanoma (before he became my oncologist), so I have skin checks every six months. Whenever something suspicious arises, he has taken care of it immediately. While he can sometimes be a bit rushed when seeing many patients in one day, don’t hesitate to ask him to slow down if you need more time. He is not only a highly skilled dermatologist but also a genuinely nice person. Additionally, I have read complaints about insurance coverage; those issues should be addressed with the billing staff, as they are not the doctor's responsibility.
Anyone ever heard of Xolair? I had never heard of Xolair before Dr. Altman. It has been life-changing. I went to Dr. Altman due to chronic hives after seeing many doctors. He is the only one who suggested Xolair. I get my shots monthly and I'm in and out of the office in 10 minutes. This is the best decision I've ever made. Xolair has alleviated so many allergy/intolerance symptoms I didn't even know I had. Orange juice isn't supposed to sting. My asthma pump goes unused. I was getting hives every time I got a cold!
Went there cause my gi recommended this place. Dr Altman was in and out in 5 mins. Was supposed to send prescription to pharmacy but never did. I felt like he didn't hear a word i said. Will be switching drs.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
