If you are a scared parent googling the attending doctor overseeing your child’s care in the PICU right now, I want to assure you have come across the most incredible doctor there is. She is knowledgeable, compassionate and will do whatever it takes to support you and your child. You are in good hands. I hope that whoever has found themselves reading this is comforted by her care. Dr. Rissman is approachable and knowledgeable. She is patient and gives me and my child her undivided attention. When are often in the ICU and feel at ease when Dr. Rissman is on service or on call. She listens. She cares.

My 2-year-old son was taken to Lurie Children's this past summer after drowning in our pool. Dr. Rissman showed our family the compassion, patience, and love to help us get through his passing. She has continued to demonstrate nurturing and understanding as we process our grief. This was easily the most difficult time in our life and it was made the best experience possible in part thanks to the kindness of Dr. Rissman.

I would leave 0 stars if possible. I found her demeanor to be exceedingly unprofessional. She has quite an ugly personality while interacting with families, too. I constantly worried about my sick child in her care, as she repeatedly did not make the right decisions. Please, it would be in your child’s best interest to find a physician with more experience and more compassion, since she’s lacking in both tremendously.
