Thank you so much for dismissing me before even hearing me out.

I came to the Couri Center a few months ago after years of pain and no answers as to why. Dr. Mouro had the best bedside manner and quickly got to the root of the issue. All of my questions were answered and all of the options were presented as well. I would recommend the Couri Center and Dr. Mouro to everyone!

I felt very comfortable from the first minute I walked in the doors. The wait area has so much education on services offered. Dana Goff is so kind and wonderful. The front desk staff is always friendly and professional. Ashley was so kind and informative. Dr. Couri is so down to earth. She is very thorough and so easy to talk to. She offers all of the latest services that are so important to overall health.

I came to the Couri Center in hopes that they could help me with my debilitating symptoms, but they were completely disregarded. I told them my menstrual pain was so severe it was causing me to vomit and pass out and left me bedridden for days on end, that I was bleeding through ultra+ tampons in 45 minutes, and that my periods would last upwards of a month. I was told to take 8 ibuprofen a day for as long as I was bleeding and was given no other resources. They told me I had no birth control options and that I was just going to have to find other ways to cope with the pain. I also paid hundreds of dollars out of pocket for them to run food sensitivity testing, which I later found out through a Mayo Clinic gastroenterologist is basically useless, and was told to cut out gluten, dairy, nuts and eggs. I already had dietary restrictions previous to this, so cutting out all those food groups made it so I could hardly eat anything, which made my chronic illness so much worse as I was barely getting any nutrition. I know lots of people have had amazing care there, and I’m truly happy for them, but I felt I needed to share my experience as the care I received genuinely made my health way worse than it already was.

Not impressed. I called today for a first-time visit and they could not get me off the phone fast enough, the woman who answered was lacking all care and compassion, she could just as well have been saying "do want fries with that" for all the care she had. Do not ask questions and don't bother us was my first impression. They may have great doctors but I am going to go elsewhere. Think The Resident and the running platinum insurance quip, it rings true here, that's the only thing she did take an interest in. If the reception/nurse is an indication of service then there are some serious problems with the place but I will never find out because I stopped at the terrible welcome. For the business, keep in mind that you can't get people in the door especially patients with money to spend if you don't roll out the welcome mat and your current reception is severely lacking, that's people's first impression and it was not a good one.

Went to the Couri Center for the first time today. The building was beautiful, and immaculate! The staff was very friendly, and I LOVED Dr. Mouro! I would recommend it to anyone!

I suddenly developed chronic pelvic pain and digestive issues for over 2 years. After many doctors dismissed my concerns, I tried out the Couri Center. I first saw Dr. Ponder who was so refreshing! She actually listened to my symptoms and concerns as a whole without dismissing anything. I eventually saw Dr. Mouro for a surgery consultation who again was an awesome listener and showed great care with getting to the root cause of my issues. He performed my surgery and was able to diagnose and treat my issues as best as possible. They are continuing to follow up and provide excellent care. I'm so glad to be a patient of theirs!

I would not recommend this practice to anyone, especially LGBTQ+ individuals. I saw Deborah Collins and have never felt more dismissed as a patient. To begin, I asked not to be weighed because I am in recovery from an ED. The nurse became annoyed with me advocating for myself. Once we got into the exam room she asked why I was here, I told her I was here to ask questions about gender affirming care options. She bluntly said "we don't do that here" without asking what type of gender affirming care I was seeking. When I was making this appointment over the phone with the receptionist, I specifically asked if the practitioner I was seeing was educated in gender affirming care options/could provide me with guidance. She enthusiastically told me yes, however she was wrong. The nurse then berated me for not having an annual exam/PAP without knowing my medical history. Once Deborah came in, it sadly didn't get any better. Like the nurse, she also berated me for not getting an annual exam/PAP and I had to redirect the conversation to why I was there, gender affirming care. Again, without asking what gender affirming care I was seeking she said, "We don't do that type of thing here." The gender affirming care I was seeking was to talk about getting a hysterectomy (as this is a service the Couri Center provides), seeing if it was the right option for me, and figuring out birth control I could use in the interim to stop my period as it was causing gender dysphoria. Unfortunately, I was not able to communicate this effectively to Deborah since she didn't take the time to listen about the type of gender affirming care I was looking for and what she could do to help me. She instead said, "So you want to be a man?" To clarify, I am nonbinary. I never had suggested that I was a trans man, I was never asked my pronouns, I had not once mentioned hormones, or the desire to transition FTM. She said this in a tone that did not read as friendly or accepting of trans/gender non-conforming folks. At this point in my visit I was crying. This is a very overwhelming, vuneriblue, and anxiety provoking subject and I was not feeling seen, heard, or cared for. Because I felt like I wasn't getting anywhere on the subject of a hysterectomy as gender affirming care, I asked about birth control options to stop my period in the meantime. I clearly stated that I wanted options that didn't contain a lot of estrogen, that didn't have a side effect of weight gain so that it didn't trigger my ED, and that didn't cause breasts to get bigger since that would trigger more gender dysphoria and my ED. She first suggested a copper IUD. I said that I wasn't really interested in that option but she continued to persist that I should get an IUD. I said multiple times after that I was not interested. She then recommended the depo shot even though one of the most common side effects is weight gain. I brought that up and she immediately dismissed me. The paper she later gave me with birth control options and their pros/cons stated weight gain as the first con of the depo shot. She then recommend a pill option, but at this point I had little to no evidence that she was actually listening to me and that this pill option would be what I was looking for. I was still crying. Before she got the sample pill pack to show me, she went over my current meds. I am currently taking meds to help with my anxiety/depression. She noted that and said, "Well it doesn't look like they're working" referencing me crying. She then said, "Are you seeing someone for all that?" again in the same tone as when she asked if I wanted to be a man. At this point I was done, I couldn't take anymore. She went to grab the sample pills to show me and when she came back she said she would write me a prescription for them. I told her that I wasn't interested in that today. She said "Well what do you want then?" and I responded, "For this appointment to be over." I left. However awful this appointment was, I want to thank Deborah for showing me that I am capable of standing up for myself and the care I deserve.

Dr. Couri is the best of the best. She is unmatched in knowledgeability, skill and bedside manner. The staff both clinical and administrative are kind, and personable. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
