Great treatment, but the billing and insurance verification department is in serious need of improvement. I trusted their staff that completed an pre-estimate of my costs for a preventative procedure. I stated if the cost was in this range, I would feel comfortable being very proactive, but if it was above this range, i may work with the doctor to monitor the situation going forward. We made the appointment, and I got a call saying the pre-estimate fell within my range to move forward and was gaven a specific amount. A month later, I got a bill for almost 4 times the pre-estimate. I called the billing department, and they stated that the estimate I was given would have been correct if I had met my deductible for the year, but I hadn't. It was explained to me that I should be understanding as the employee doing the pre-estimates for insurance was new and in training. I did not feel that an employee making a mistake while in training is an expense that should be put on the patient. I was then told that they do this as a courtesy, and I am responsible for my own insurance, and they cannot provide any cost reduction. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and was told I was talking to a supervisor. I asked to speak to the next person up the chain because something needs to be done, and she had made it clear she could not do anything. She then said if I paid in full right away, she could give me a 20% discount. So at this point, I had been made aware that they did make a mistake on the pre-estimate and it was because of a new employee in training, but it was ultimately my responsibility. They could not provide a discount, but then later in the conversation they could give me 20% off if I paid in full right away. I am still waiting on a call back from a supervisor to look at other ways to resolve my claim. Very disappointing.

Had to wait 45 minutes past our appointment time before we even was brought back to the room. This was for my 15 year old daughter being seen for spots on her knee and back of her leg. During exam Doctor asked her to stand up and pulled her shirt up while standing in front of him then asked her to turn around took a q-tip made a X shape on her back and said we will look at that later then had her sit back down and never looked at her back again. I have no clue why he would want a 15 year old girl to pull her shirt up in front of him to examine spots on her legs or even make a X on her back that he did nothing with. Very unprofessional and unethical and degrading. Very disappointed and will never go back. As a nurse I know this is not how an examine should go.

Dr. Gerlach and his staff are amazing!!! I had a blepharoplasty procedure. Very pleased with the results!! He is very thorough and caring!! His pre/post-op nurses are the best! Made me feel very comfortable!!

Edit: He gave me my face & confidence back. I just wanted to come back to edit my review to say thanks again. I see Dr. Gerlach. I have a genetic connective tissues disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome that causes my body not to produce collagen. At 28, suffered a Bell’s Palsy as a comorbidity of this crumby disorder. My skin began drooping do to lack of structure from EDS & partial facial paralysis from the Bell’s Palsy. This doctor helped me feel like showing my face again in public & not hide from mirrors when I was once beautiful naturally. Thanks to Juvederm Voluma Ultra XC injections into my [I believe..] near the nasolabial folds (frown lines??) so my cheeks are restored back to normal along with 25 Units of Botox injected into my forehead after my forehead began dropping to compensate for lack of muscle & adipose tissue in the cheeks. I feel beautiful. There is no thanking Molly, his nurse, & Dr. G enough. Thank you!! Recommended to all my friends who might be thinking of getting less invasive yet incredible, even life changing results. Bless this office & kinda folk at the Day Spa. MAZEL!!

I went in for a preventative exam. I was told its 100% covered my my insurance. Good news a doctor looked at me turn around in my underwear for like 90 seconds and said I was good. I get the bill and there was two items. One was 100% covered by my insurance which I assumed was my exam. The second was just as much as my exam but was not 100% covered. I bring in the bill and ask what the charge was and they could not figure it out, "its probably an error, we will look into it". A month goes by and the bill shows up again, same charges and dates. I go in again and ask about the item they couldn't figure out. After some looking around in the computer they tell me its a facility charge that happens anytime you come in. If that were true they would have recognized it since its on everyone's bill. And they should be telling you about it when you are specifically asking how much something costs. So, I canceled my next annual appointment! Don't waist my time and don't lie to your customers, either flat out or by omission.

I've had positive experiences every time I've been here. From the appointment staff at the front desk, to the nursing staff, to the doctors and mid-level practitioners, to the billing office I was treated professionally, with respect, and with compassion. My conditions were properly diagnosed and treated the first time. All procedures were thoroughly explained to me. I am a health care professional myself and I am fully satisfied with Soderstrom Skin Institute.

Tried to make an appointment at the Peoria location at the end of june. I was told that as a new patient, i'd have to wait until the end of December. This is unacceptable. I'd have to wait 6 months to find out if I possibly have skin cancer? Pass.

After 15 years and three other dermatologist, my rare skin cancer was finally diagnosed by Carl Söderström. It is now under control. His practice in Peoria is the only one in the area that has the machine that produces the ultraviolet rays that I need to keep my skin cancer under control. He was also very helpful in negotiating a price with me when my insurance canceled him as a provider.

I saw Dr. Kintosh for the first time yesterday, and wanted to take a minute to comment on what an excellent experience it was. It was clear right away that he was extremely knowledgeable in his discipline, as well as in dermatology-adjacent disorders in immunology and rheumatology. He was clear and decisive in identifying what my presenting issue might be, which was impressive given that it’s a rare disorder. Above and beyond that, he immediately knew what labs were needed, even those that are new and somewhat uncommon. He was also knowledgeable about medications for my already-diagnosed rare disorders (e.g., mast cell activation syndrome), and was able to speak to me about doctors in the area that would be most capable regarding their ability to help me there too. I’m so relieved that I’ve found someone who will be able to help me identify where my new, and often very painful or debilitating symptoms are coming from. Also, the wait time was reasonable, the skin biopsy he did was quick and painless, and his assistant was friendly and competent as well. Much appreciated on all fronts.

I would give them zero stars if I could when it comes to their communications. My daughter is supposed to have surgery on 2/9/21 at Proctor with Dr Jefferies. Here it is 45 minutes until they close on 2/8/21 and they have yet to call with a surgery time. Anyone reading this should consider Central Illinois Dermatology instead of this place.
