List of Paul T. Basile Dpm's Reviews
I just had surgery with Dr. Basile. He was very thorough and ordered different imaging just to make sure surgery was the right answer. He did a great job and took the time to answer my questions and check on me after surgery.
Dr Paul Basile operated on both of my feet for Morton Neuroma 5 years ago. This was the worst mistake in my life. To this day my feet are in constant pain 24 hours a day. Dr. Basile says that there is nothing he can do after he butchered my feet by cutting the nerves in both of my feet. I can no longer walk for more than 10 minutes on a hard surface without having serious pain. I have been to several Foot doctors over the past 5 years and they all have said that because of the damage done from the operation that the nerve damage is permanent. I would recommend not having surgery for Morton Neuroma and certainly not by this Dr.
This doctor truly cares about his patients and their wellbeing. One of the best podiatrists I've ever had.
After seeing the ONE negative review and how that ONE review can ruin someone's impression of you on a site such as this, I felt compelled to write my own review. I visited Dr Basile several times for various foot issues over the past several years. I found him to be professional and friendly. He was VERY gentle and skilled when injecting cortisone into my feet to treat plantar fasciitis. Friends had gone elsewhere and told horror stories of the pain they experienced during their similar procedures. However, I felt nothing any of the times he did it. He also treated other foot issues and each time he was friendly and my issue was resolved quickly and completely. He and his main nurse do banter back and forth, but I would not call it arguing. It's just their relationship. If you are in the Plainfield area and need foot care, I would definitely recommend Dr. Basile.
I wish I could have run out the door as soon as I started speaking to the nurse before I even met Dr. Basile. She was incredibly rude. I have never felt more judged and made to feel uncomfortable by a medical professional. She made terrible comments about my feet while taking my x-rays. She insisted that I stop talking and point to where my pain was located during my patient history, even though she kept asking and I explained exactly where it was. Told me that holding onto my purse made her feel uncomfortable, even though no offer was made as to where I should place my belongings as she rushed me into the exam chair. She bad talked the doctor every moment he left the room, loudly and with the door open, before I even met him. She even went so far as to stand behind him and make faces while he finally examined me. Neither Dr. Basile or his nurse took the time to figure out what is causing my pain. The first thing he said when he came in the room after viewing my x-rays, and before touching me at all, was that I would require surgery. It would be long and complicated both in surgical process and recovery time. It will take lots of planning because of how complicated the procedure will be. Only after this did he actually feel my foot. I was left with the option to pursue surgery and get custom orthotics. The pain in my foot is not even where he will plans on operating and has never caused me a problem for the 18 years I have had it. I let him make the custom casts for orthotics in the hope that it will ease some of the pain I am in. Dr. Basile and his nurse made me a make shift support before I left which doesn't even cover the area where my pain is and makes it worse when I wear it. Obviously I am getting a second opinion once I find another doctor. I wish I didn't get orthotics through them. It makes me sick just thinking about walking in the door again.
My experience with Dr. Basile was excellent...recently I had foot pain...he really took the time to diagnose my problem using a hand held ultra sound...unlike a previous doctor that I tried. I truly appreciated all the time he took, and, after he pinpointed where the shot should go...he gave me relief ...
Rudest nurse EVER ... she bashes the doctor and makes the patient feel stupid.. not sure why she is employed there. Very Very MEAN.
I wouldn't even give this Dr. A one star. He has the worst bedside manner. Very rude and arrogant! My whole experience was so horrible! I knew I had to have surgery but Dr Basile made me have reconstructive surgery and it was so awful and extremely painful. The recovery took over 8 months where others took 3 months. And now to only go back to another Dr to fix what he messed upAnd his main nurse is so unhappy and rude they fight right in front of you!Don't walk but run away from this doctor and if you can't then hop or crawl but DONT see him!!!
I had a neuroma removed which was fine. I wore a walking shoe for about a month. I developed back pain and asked if it was related...he said he'd never heard of such a thing. Then after several months I had pain on the outer side of my foot. He took an X-ray and said I needed another surgery as the bones had "splayed" meaning separated and he would need to "shave the bones." I didn't feel right about it. I called a doctor I knew in a different area and he agreeed to see me even tho it hadn't been the customary year of seeing a new doctor after having a surgery (its about liability). He asked what the problem was. I said "you tell me...examine my feet etc make a diagnosis, then I'll tell you." WELLLL. He did about 4 X-rays of both feet. His were crystal clear (it's a bigger group), unlike Dr. Basile's. And guess what....? Not a single thing wrong with either foot! No splaying of bones, nothing looked unusual. Then I told the doctor my story and was he ANGRY! I would have had unnecessary surgery. ALL I NEEDED was a few weeks of physical therapy as I had been walking funny because of having the neuroma (a nerve that balls up and causes pain) and limping. Foot surgery makes your gait out of balance and CAN cause back pain (I've since become a licensed massage therapist). When in doubt, get a second opinion, I'm sure glad I did. He had a nice personality and bedside manner; that's all the good I can say.
Dr. Basille & his staff are very friendly and understanding. They never make you wait more than ten minutes for your appointment. I was really happy with them having two locations you go to for appointments so flexibility is a plus.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
