Made me wait more than 45 min. past my appointment time. Was ill-prepared regarding my case--had key information wrong (e.g., date of surgery off by almost a week while simultaneously insisting that chemo should be timed precisely around that). Discounted my opinions on my own care (e.g., insisted I have a PICC line--and told me it wasn't ultimately up to me--when I didn't need one. This was evidenced by the fact that I received chemo perfectly successfully without one at a different hospital). But the total lack of social skills was the kicker. He actually asked me if I had naturally straight hair or curly and that it would probably be different after chemo (true enough). But, before I could even answer, he said it didn't matter because "that's the thing about women--if they have straight hair, they want curly; if they have curly hair, they want straight," demonstrating an astonishing lack of respect and sensitivity to someone about to lose all their hair.

I don't impress easily but positive feedback is important to share. Dr. El Khoury treated me as an inpatient, & I saw him for a follow-up. He knew my complete history as if he'd treated me forever! He consulted with a peer before my appt to see if his suspicion was on the right path due to the rarity of the issue. He spent at least 45 min talking, listening getting my opinion & mutual agreement on a battle plan. I'm not just a patient #, he partners WITH the patient for the best plan of attack.
