Seth I Kaplan's Online Review Report Card

Visit 9-4-2020, Dr. Kaplan had no patience with my 87-year-old father with beginnings of dementia. My father kept repeating himself and did not comprehend what the doctor was saying. I said I would discuss it with him later. He raised his voice and yelled at him "No doctor in this world will fix your eye it's shot" My father who talks about driving all the time but hasn't driven in several years went to that subject and the doctor raised his voice again and said "You better not be driving" I said he does not drive. My dad was still talking about it and he raised his voice again and said "YOU BETTER NOT BE DRIVING!" I assured him again that he's not he's just talking. The doctor was impatient, rude, and disrespectful to my father. Doctor stormed out of the room and Yelled "God help me!" as he threw his hands up. His staff looked mortified and one nurse came in to finish our appointment. I just want to warn people about how ignorant, impatient, disrespectful and rude he was to us.

I would never recomend this terrible doctor. very rude nasty atitude

I had to wait over an hour for my first appt. to see him. When he finally came into the room for the appt., he was condescending and would cut me off when I was trying to explain to him what was wrong with my eye. He didn't like the fact that I used my hands while talking and asked me not to use them when I explained myself. My follow up appt. was an hour wait AGAIN and then he yelled at my 6 y.o. son to behave himself (my 3 y.o. daughter started the fight w/ my son). NEVER AGAIN!

I have been seeing Dr. Kaplan for more than 10 years for a macular degeneration, blepharitis, and cataracts. He has always been very attentive to my needs and treats my conditions accordingly and with great care since I came to him with my vision is already very compromised. I would not hesitate to recommend him and have done so in the past.

I found this doctor to be abrupt, condescending, and arrogant. On my first visit he question why was seeing an ophthalmologist in downtown Chicago and stated there were plenty of good ophthalmologist in the area, so I was I traveling downtown. He was late for my first appointment, 45 minutes late for my second appointment because he decided to step out of the building for a while, 40 minutes late for my third appointment, abrupt. Was late for my first appointment, 45 minutes late for my second appointment because he decided to step out of the building for a while, 40 minutes late for my third appointment becabecauseuse because once again he was not at the office he was not yet in the office. When I asked if he was ever on time for appointments, his response was "I really don't know how to answer that, sometimes people take longer than others." It makes it worse that he does not even acknowledge that he is late or apologize for it.
