Ashraf Darwish's Online Review Report Card

I made the appointment after reading the reviews online and am so glad I did. Every positive review was right. Initial consult made me feel confident. Dr Darwish and his staff at Western Springs are professional. Sarah Rehman answered the many questions I had post surgery quickly. I am 7 weeks out of lumbar fusion surgery and doing well. I normally don’t leave reviews but I had to after my experience with Dr. Darwish who I just saw. He was unhappy about me going to see other doctors for opinions in regards to my lumbar spine. He didn’t want to listen to other doctors diagnosis or opinions that I wanted to share with him. Nor did he want to look at a detailed ct scan (Myelogram) that I asked him to. Went to see Dr. Darwish for my chronic neck and shoulder pain. He asked us a few questions and my husband began explaining some of my symptoms etc., and Dr. Darwish completely cut him off mid-sentence. He then looked at where my pain is coming from, then looked at the X-ray. After that, he then said very bluntly.....there is nothing I can do for you. There is no surgery that can fix this. He basically spent all of 10 minutes with us. We were really hoping he would be the one that could help me. We came out of the appointment extremely disheartened and very dissatisfied. Dr. Darwish had a very non-caring attitude. He has the "God" complex. Rude and very arrogant. Horrible bedside manner.

Dr. Darwish performed my cervical multi level discectomy and fusion. He and his team were incredible. Our consult was comfortable, professional and not rushed. He answered all of my questions. Nadine and Ashley were so helpful every step of the way. Nadine was so helpful and I was able to email her with questions. They also did a great job calming my nerves and Dr. Darwish had an excellent bedside manner.

I had excruciating sciatic pain and went to see Dr. Darwish. He ordered an MRI and when the results of the MRI showed that I had a very bad disc herniation, he scheduled surgery for a few days later. I was so grateful I did't have to wait because I was in so much pain. The surgery went smoothly and I am now pain free. Dr. Darwish and his staff couldn't have been more caring, attentive, friendly and professional. I was always told exactly what I was to expect and what I needed to do. I would recommend Dr. Darwish to anyone who is looking for an orthopedic doctor.

I was in so much pain in hip and down leg. Getting cortisone shots in different places by another doctor did not help at all. Dr. Darwish performed a lumbar fusion in 3 places. I have 2 vertical scars, but no pain at all. I didn't need the pain meds from the surgery after only 1 month. Dr. Darwish has a nice bedside manner that my husband and I both liked and trusted; also his P.A.-Ashley is nice and knows all about the surgery to answer any questions. She even visited me in the hospital on Thanksgiving to release me. I would recommend this Dr. and group for back surgery.

My second lumbar surgery. An excellent dr and staff. Made me feel at ease and like family. Will recommend him to everyone needing back surgery! I had a 2 hr drive but worth it.

After much discussion, concluded that surgery was the only option. How correct. Dr Darwish performed a very successful surgery. Dr. Darwish and his team are the most professional, informative, caring and friendly physician/surgeon group I could ask for. I highly recommend him. 5 stars

Dr. Darwish did great for me. I'm about 9 months out from a microdiscectomy and partial laminectomy to address a herniated disc in my lower back. It's almost like I never had the injury, and I was in very rough shape before the surgery. The bulging disc was pretty easy to spot on the MRI. Under Dr. Darwish's care, I tried physical therapy and had two cortico-steroid injections before turning to surgery, which was basically only needed to satisfy the insurance company that less drastic measures were not sufficient. The injections did help, but not enough to provide a good quality of life. I felt immediate relief in the nerve pain down my legs when waking up from the back surgery. Recovery was not too difficult. Taking time to heal and doing physical therapy helped during recovery. Now, my back only flares up slightly following significant yard work with heavy lifting and bending. It's probably normal at my age.

AD was A1 from day1 with my synopsis & results. His team, Ashley & Nadine were extremely critical with everything before & after surgery. I had spinal fusion surgery on Wednesday & was at home on Friday recovering. I have had my 2 week follow up & look forward to my 4 week post operative upcoming because everything the text book plan that I was explained would happen has gone as planned & my recovery is great as well. Dr. Darwish & his team gets 6 stars from me
