I started seeing Dr. McKenna when I was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer that spread to my liver. After one chemo treatment I switched doctors. Yes, she is thorough. Yes, she is caring. But I was EXTREMELY uneasy about the condition of the office. It was absolutely filthy. The bathroom was horrid. She has no nurse to help her so she is treating multiple patients for chemo, taking phone calls because she only has front desk help a couple times a week, and she is also seeing regular patients. How is it safe to treat so many patients at once for chemo? Since she couldn’t attend to her patients in a timely manner, our IV tubes would backflow with blood if you got up to use the restroom because the chemo bags would be empty. This happened to me that one and only visit and it’s quite frightening to see. There is no one to double check the drugs or dosages for each patient, she never wore gloves or washed hands going from patient to patient, the area was disgusting and not sanitized, I had to take my own temp, blood pressure, oxygen level and weight before arriving since she has no nurse and doesn’t want one, this is absurd and highly unprofessional. The other chemo patients looked sad, depressed and defeated. You couldn’t talk, there was no tv, no music and no windows to see out of clearly. So for 9 hours I sat in silence. It was the most depressing atmosphere and situation I have ever been in. The best decision I ever made was leaving that office.

I had to pay a copay for each visit and my insurance doesn’t even require a copay! It was the most depressing atmosphere I have ever been in. There was no music or tv or talking. So I sat there for 9 hours basically silent. I knew if I didn’t find another doctor immediately, I would go in to a deep depression. And honestly, her patients looked so sad and depressed and defeated. They looked hopeless. The best thing I ever did was leave that office. I have only thrived since switching to a new doctor. My tumors are shrinking and I have a superb medical team for support.

Dr. McKenna is an excellent oncologist/doctor! I would highly recommend her to all! She is so dedicated to her patients and has a great bedside manner. She thoroughly describes all conditions, medications and procedures. To me, she goes above and beyond her call of duty. You will not be disappointed. She’s truly is one of a kind!

Dr. McKenna is the most dedicated, loving, and thorough physician I have had. She fights for her patients and will go to above and beyond to help everyone of her patients. she number one mission is the care of her patients. She is a true blessing.

I have been in remission for 9 years since seeking treatment under the care and direction of Dr. McKenna. She works tirelessly during each step of the process for the best outcome for her patients. I feel that not only has she saved my life, but due to how treatment was administered, she ensured quality of life as well. I cannot say enough great things about this wonderful doctor.

I was diagnosed in 2009 with Stage 3C Breast Cancer. Dr McKenna was truly rare in that she is a patient advocate. She is a no-nonsense doctor who will go to any lengths for her patients. She is willing to assert herself with insurance as well as other doctors on the team that treats you. You want her on your side when fighting a war like late-stage cancer. I am a 10-year survivor who owes it all to her. If I ever need treatment I would move back to Illinois so I could be under her care!

Dr McKenna is exceptional. Most specialists I've dealt with are a quick, targeted appt that uses what was past along for actions. Dr McKenna takes NOTHING for granted and does an extremely thorough discovery of your entire medical history. She is also no nonsense and if you don't like that type of personality, get over it, because you're going to miss out on one of the most compassionate and skilled Drs you'll ever see.

This woman is incredible. If you require a heme/onc, you'll go nowhere better than here.

My wife saw Dr. McKenna regarding a blood clotting issue. Right from the very first meeting with her, both my wife and I were very impressed by her genuine interest in my wife's condition and her kind hearted approach towards my wife's treatment options. Throughout the course of her treatment, we found Dr. McKenna to be both an expert in her field and a very kind hearted doctor who truly cares about her patients. I have never found a doctor as dedicated as Dr. McKenna. She is awesome!
