My child was extremely ill and needed to be seen. We made an appointment 6 months out which their office cancelled and never notified me. We made another appointment with Dr. Klein Gittleman 2 weeks later we received a phone call that we are not allowed to see her. Their words were "YOU CANNOT DO THAT ". They dictate who you see it appears irrespective of your needs. The physician that did see her was dismissive and misdiagnosed her. Thankfully we received immediate care by another healthcare group. Totally ridiculous!
I had frequently visited Dr.Klein in my four years residing in Illinois from 2016 to 2019. Me and my mother were always greeted with the the warmest and greatest hospitality ever received from any other in the medical industry regardless of a language barrier to point where it was nonexistent. In addition to great her great hospitality, she also possessed the great characteristics of a guide, of course in medical troubles. Not only did she advice my Mother and my self on how to deal with my arthritis, but she also welcomed any other concerns that where outside her area of speciality. So much so to the point where she contacted other colleagues to aid me with an irritating foot alignment problem that ultimately lead to a helpful solution. Dr. Klein isn’t like most doctors, or at least like any other doctor I’ve met. She will do anything reasonably possible to assist you. She’s an ally, a friend, and a wonderful example of what all doctors should be.
My daughter has been under this doctor’s care for the last couple of years and her attitude is outstanding towards her patients, she is personable, caring and on top of her game, I would definitely recommend her if you have a pediatric aged child dealing with issues like Lupus or other autoimmune disorders.
Dr. Klein-Gitelman is an excellent physician. She is kind, and made my child very comfortable during the visit. She is very thorough and really spends quality time for evaluation. Additionally, she provides explanation to all present and takes the time to answer all questions. As a physician myself, I was very impressed by Dr. Klein-Gitelman's expertise, and would highly recommend her to anyone.

Worth the wait! AMAZING saved my daughters life.
She's wonderful!! My son has been seeing her for 15 years!
Dr. Klein - Gitelman, treats the whole patient not just the condition. She has been treating my daughter for the last 6 years and treats the physical symptoms as much as the pyschological symptoms of living with pain and being "different" from other children. She is actively involved in the Arthritis community and has been a great resource and support system for parents (especially for those with newly diagnosed children). I would highly recommend Dr. Klein Gitelman to any patient! The wait time is very long because it is a teaching hospital and the sheer volume of patients, but we've made the most of our time there by reading, doing homework, etc. The nurses and support staff are exceptionally nice and accomodating. However, you must make your next appointment before you leave or it will be very difficult to get time in her schedule.
Dr. Klein-Gitelman has a very courteous staff as well as very impressive credentials. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to get an appointment with her unless you are making it 3 or 4 months in advance, and when you are there, you'd better be prepared for an hour wait. For the time spent waiting, you don't get much time with Dr. K-G. Overall, however, she is a good doctor though.
Dr. Klein takes her time with patients. She is compassionate and understanding. It is unfortunate, that she is unwilling to listen to any alternatives/integrative ideas outside of straight pharmaceuticals. Her hospital attending, Dr. Michael Miller, is a detriment to her practice. He will threaten you with custody of your child if you do not comply 100% with their treatment plans and all consults. An open mind and willingness to work with parents would make Dr. Klein and excellent doctor!
I have never met a more caring and compassionate doctor than Dr. Marisa Klein-Gitelman. She is wonderful with the kids, helping them to understand what is wrong with them, and is so loving to the parents of these sick kids. Not only does she have excellent credentials but she is an excellent researcher. If your looking for a physician/Rheumatologist for your child she is the one you want!!
Dr. Klein is an amazing doctor and worth every minute you wait to see her. Her medical knowledge and bedside manner are both amazing.
After seeing many doctors who were unable to make a diagnosis she was able to during the first visit. While it is very difficult to see her and there is often a long wait, it is well worth it. She is one of the kindest and most patient doctors I have seen (and I have seen quite a few). Very competent and extremely knowledgeable she puts patients and their families at ease and well spend as long as necessary with you.
