If you over pay on a bill dont expect to get a credit back. It will be lost in the system.
Quality care but customer service and wait time has deteriorated in last couple of years.
The entire staff I met had an attitude. They lost, literally LOST, my mother in their OWN HOSPITAL!! For hours no one had any idea where this UNCONSCIOUS WOMAN WENT! WORST HOSPITAL EVER!!!
My child had her back broken by her father and the emergency room staff was the rudest imaginable. Misdiagnosis by Dr. Hoskins. Too big of a business to care about patient care.
The neurological department is absolutely the worst I have ever seen when it comes to treatment. Or, it would be; if after 10 months there was anything resembling treatment. I would put negative stars I’d it were possible. Avoid like the plague. Maybe if you have money you’ll be treated like a human being.
Do not trust Hoopeston CARLE Emergency Room. They send you to collections even though you have 3 insurances. They play dumb when they code items wrong and tell you they cant do anything. They send you to a dumb collections agency who are very sketchy. You pay your bill but have no physical evidence you are off the hook. They take your money but then wont give you a recipet email saying you paid the bill. I paid my exact amount but still havent received an email like they promised saying Im officially off the hook. I have physical proof of them taking my money but cant even give me some comfort knowing Im done with the payment. Sick people. Never go with Carle again. They are money hungry jerks.
They do a good job taking care of my grandma.
Recomendations for improvement: 1) Coordinate care with the patients family physician so the medical history is properly considered. Care providers consistently assumed my father had dementia which he did not. They also caused psychiatric problems by changing medicines without knowing what was normal for him. 2) Maintain a work schedule so the number of doctors and nurses assigned to patients are not constantly changing to someone new each day. Errors were made because the care providers could not identify changes in my dads behavior. Give visibility of the schedule to the patient advocate so they know when the care providers are changing. 3) Maintain a continuously running communication log on the patient that includes review with the patients advocate and the primary care physician. This will provide oversight for communication errors aid in consistency in care. 4) Let the patient/ advocate know that the doctor treating them will usually be a trainee, but they have the right to consult with a fully qualified physician. My father died due to complications that could have been prevented. (Severe mal nutrition/ low protein levels, antibiotic resistant infections that are passed from room to room by care givers that remove PPE when it becomes frustrating to use devices like the portable data assistant, and multiple errors like assuming infection is gone because antibiotic regiments had been completed.
My brother Charles Shaffer had been in and out of Carle since November 2020 for heart issues. They put in a pacemaker, but that isn’t going to fix the problem since his arteries are narrowed and 100% blocked. And that took 2 times in the hospital to find that out! They have to do open heart surgery for a triple bypass, repair the valve, etc. and they keep delaying the surgery and sending him home because they state they need ICU beds open for COVID patients. Since when does critical surgery get put on the back burner in any situation by a hospital and medical staff here in America?? I am truly disgusted by their disregard for my brother’s life. They sent him home again today and state they will do his surgery on Monday. I swear, if something happens to him because of their negligence, I will have every lawyer on them and take them all down.
This place is a joke. everyone is rude. I will not be back or recommend this place to anyone.
My daughter saw a plastic surgeon at one of their satellite facilities & I got charged $270 for the doctor which is fine but Carle Foundation charged me $275 fee for using their building!!! Will never go back. I called & the lady was rude & said they charge all their patients that.
This hospital is ridiculous. My fiancé is waiting for test results which should’ve been back 30 minutes ago, but instead has to listen to the nurses outside his room bragging about how intoxicated they were before coming into work this morning. Really professional. I, from my car in the parking lot, had to call the hospitals ER department to ask them to give my fiancé his results and send him home. The only time he has seen or spoken to anyone since arriving over 2 hours ago, is within the first 30 minutes he was brought in and given tests. Then nothing for 2 hours. Sickening to see how people are being treated during a pandemic. You would think they would want to get people in and out who aren’t sick with covid so they can focus on the ones who are. But now I just feel sorry for anyone under these nurses and doctors watch. Clearly they are not worried about their patients or their wellbeing. Update~ around 1pm a nurse came in to ask if he had updated me.. he told her no, bc nobody has been in to update him. He asked her if she could check on his results, her response was “oh I haven’t looked at a computer in a while, I’ll see if I can find anything. 20 minutes later he was about to walk out and his doctor was standing there. Told him that the nurse did not do one of the tests she was supposed to do, so that’s taking another hour, and he still has not been discharged. The incompetence in this hospital is staggering.
My husband got surgery there, and the physician even admitted to cut "the wrong thing," the physician still working there. They did not even give him a wheelchair after the surgery or let me see him. So, he had to walk across the hospital in pain after being botched.
Doctors do not care here.. have been to way too many gynecologist that refuse to actually help me. Every time i ask for a specific testing it’s always an argument or they just refuse to hear me out. Have been to like 4 or 5 different gynecologist and i am absolutely done with Carle Hospital. Not even understanding how some of them were hired. At this point I feel like i am more knowledgeable than the gynecologists at this place..
Carle Hospital as a whole is a really good hospital. There are always a few bad apples though. Dr. Rauther is especially horrible. In my opinion , she should be fired on the spot. I'm not sure why she is still there after all these years. I've even asked personal friends and they don't even have anything good to say about her.
Letting relatives ie spouse be more involved in patients care and the staff being not so uninvolved in patient care
they were fantastic! the staff is amazing and my nurse was excellent! she deserves a raise! thank you carle!!
My daughter is pregnant and high risk so she is in the hospital at carle until she delivers. She is only 33 weeks today. They are kicking her husband out and will not let him return. He has offered to quit going to his job and just stay in her room. How is THAT a threat to his wife, child or staff, but the nurses are free to come and go, see family members, go to the store, church, etc and return to take care of my daughter but her husband that hasn’t left the room is a threat?? Now my daughter is under even more stress, more depressed and needs her husband and she’s left to do it all on her own. Shame on the administration. The nurses have been absolutely wonderful and have cried along with my daughter because their hands are tied. So Carle Hospital administration, you have broke a first time mom and dad’s heart. We are not asking for an act of God, we are asking for compassion. Let husbands stay with their wives. Don’t let them leave, fine. They’ll do that. This makes no sense. She was told her husband is allowed to come to the delivery and can stay until the baby goes home. Thank you for THAT but explain to me how it’s ok to “camp out” then? (That was the lame excuse the administration gave them... “we never allow people to just camp out at the hospital” but he had been “camping” there for over a week without anyone saying a word)
no companion for a high risk pregnant mother and father
