John R. Labban's Online Review Report Card

I would not recommend this place to anyone. I was a senior in college who just wanted to get a routine pap done. I saw the NP and right away she started pressuring me into birth control. She was pushing the IUD on me so I ended up saying "fine as long as my insurance covers it." I use to work in a doctors office so I know it takes minutes to run an insurance. Either way, I knew my insurance covered it because I called them about it myself. However, my birth control card was not with me as I was under my mom's Insruance so I gave them the information over the phone. The office never reached back out to me so I assumed the bill was covered. I am not sure if they lost the information or what happened but my Insruance states they never received a claim from them. I found out they sent me to collections for $1350 almost 2 years later from credit karma. They never reached out to me once. Again, I am in healthcare myself and have worked in a doctors office so I know that this is a right off for them. However, they refuse to do anything to fix their mistake. I asked if they could have the NP call me back but they never made any efforts. I ended up having issues with the IUD and had to get it removed anyway. Just very lazy and poor communication efforts all around, then the customer is the one who pays the price. Any business owner who actually cared about their patients would be more diligent and respectful. I told the office multiple times that I was moving across the country, they did not bother to take down a new address. I personally did not update my information because I gave them what they needed and was no longer continuing care. However, my address was updated in the postal system so any mail that they send would have been redirected to me. No one from the office would talk to me so I spoke to Melissa in the billing department. She confirmed that no mail was sent to me until over a year later which was too late to file anything with my insurance. They negated to do their job. This is 100% a right off based on opinions of other MDs and PAs that I am friends with. I would never trust any company that can't admit that they made a mistake.

Samantha was amazing!!! She made the awkwardness of the appt light and personable. I was able to talk to her about my concerns, and she was upfront, honest, and real. This was the most comfortable I've ever felt at an annual pap smear. Thank you so much! Highly recommend!!

5-10 minute holds EVERY time you call is pretty crazy !

I’m commenting through my husband’s email.😂 my name is Renee. Not Joseph. Promise. Words cannot express how thankful I am to Dr Labban and Samantha. (Nurse practitioner) and everyone in the office. I had two previous traumatic birth experiences in another state and have a lot of medical related anxiety. My husband also has a lot of medical related anxiety and Dr Labban always answered his questions respectfully. Dr Labban and his team were always so patient and compassionate towards me even in my worst moments during my most recent pregnancy and birth. I never felt belittled even though I imagine I can be obnoxious at times. During the birth things got a little scary at the end to no one’s fault. Stuff happens sometimes. Dr Labban was absolutely cool as a cucumber and perfectly balanced my preference for a no/low intervention VBAC while never compromising the health and safety of my son and I. He is respectful of patient preferences while also balancing what needs to be done to help keep everyone safe. He is extremely skilled, measured and humble. Plus he has a fantastic sense of humor and quick to smile. 😅 God has truly given him a gift of patience. Thank you Dr Labban and everyone in his office. Ten thousand thank yous! Bloomington does not deserve the absolute gem God has given in His kindness and long suffering patience.

I absolutely love Dr. Labban’s office! The nurse practitioner is the one who took care of me and she is phenomenal! My last gyno left me traumatized and when I went in to this office I was up front with them that I was scared. The other nurses helped calm me down and told me that I had options, something a gyno has never told me before. When the NP came in she told me if I was too nervous to go through with getting the iud removal I could always schedule it for another day which made me feel so comfortable that I went through with it. Everyone at this office is so kind and have the best bedside manner. If I could leave more than 5 stars I would. Thank you for listening to women and showing them that there are good gynos out there!

all the staff very attentive, the doctor spent a lot of time with me and answered my questions, I felt very comfortable. I recommend this place.

The lady that gave me my first ultra sound at this office that revealed my baby had no heart beat was heartless. She assumed that because I didn't cry right after I found out that I must have known at 15 weeks that my baby had not made it and made me feel like I did something to cause it when I asked what could have happened. When I was in the hospital beside myself after having to deliver my stillborn baby and asked Labban for an excuse from work which did not give time for maternity leave, I felt he looked at me with disgust and told me they should understand rather than just making me feel at ease... I have never fully recovered from this experience which was over 12 years ago. I hope that awful woman that helped with ultra sounds with the bleach blonde hair doesn't still work there and if she does I pray she never treats another woman the way she did me that day... If she does I'm sure there is karma coming for her if it hasn't already. I usually don't post things like this but it has been on my heart for a long time and I'm ready to move on and heal.

Just a warning to other women. He has terrible bedside manners. I saw him twice thinking maybe the first time was a one off but both times he suggested a hysterectomy even though everything came back normal. The whole experience was awkward and having worked in healthcare for 15 years I can’t imagine a situation where a doctor is pushing an unnecessary surgery for the patients benefit.

I’m so thankful for Dr. Labban. He’s been an excellent doctor for me over the past 14 years through 9 babies. He’s been easygoing when all is normal and has the knowledge and experience to calmly let us know whenever some action is needed. I especially appreciate that he is not anxious about multiple pregnancies or pregnancy over age 35. He’s warm and funny too. I have always felt at ease in his care and highly recommend him!

So thankful for Dr. Labban’s support of the home birth community on this area. What a gift!!
