List of Stephen M. Ritter's Reviews
My husband had a far lateral herniated disc at L3-L4. It brought him completely down and we had to go to the emergency room twice in a week and a half before we found out what was causing his pain. This type of herniation surgery requires an extremely skilled, knowledgeable surgeon. Dr. Ritter is the best choice for this complicated surgery. My husband had the surgery in July and was able to golf on vacation in November. THANK YOU Dr. Ritter!! You're the best!
This guy has been sued multiple times due to him being neglectful during surgery. You can look it up. Public records. If I could honestly give Stephen Ritter MD NO stars I would. I am a previous patient of Dr.Ritter. Had spine surgery in April 2020 which was only suppose to be minimal. Ended up not being. His team gave me too much narcotics while under anesthesia and I went into respiratory failure not once but twice. Missing a patch of hair just overall a miserable experience. 7 months after my surgery my disc herniated again.. His option was a spinal fusion with rods and screws. I’m in my mid 20s. That was a big showing surprise. But thankfully I was referred to the most amazing surgeon who assessed my back and gave me multiple options. I chose to do the second surgery with her. She was shocked and overwhelmed by the amount of work she had to do because Dr. Ritter damaged my back so bad by his botched work. There were so much scar tissue and she had to chisel and remove bone due to it was never fixed in the first place. She could not tell what he had done due to the amount of scar tissue. Stated that the amount of scar tissue I had my lower back endured quit abut of aggression during my last surgery…. Which caused a 7 inch long incision/ scar that I now have. PLEASE LOOK FOR A DIFFERENT DOCTOR. NOT THIS ONE…. lol One last thing, the hospital is trying to charge me for 30,000.00 for the rest of my surgery that my insurance “ did not pay.” Everything was in network to my knowledge. My new doctor, I only owe 1600 from my surgery all together…
I highly recommend Dr. Ritter, who I consulted for lumbar decompression surgery. He and his team were friendly, encouraging and informative - especially PA Heather Harris! Dr. Ritter answered all questions and conservatively stated what my options were and what surgery could and couldn't achieve. As a result, I confidently proceeded with surgery. Post-surgery I'm pleased with the result and continue to make progress and regain quality of life daily. To sum up - Forte's Dr. Ritter is the surgeon to consult if you're considering a spinal procedure!

My experience with Dr Ritter was a very positive and professional. His staff was very professional and pleasant. Very understanding and patient with me. Always available if I had questions or needed refills. I felt like they really cared about me and my well being. I’m so grateful for the care and attention I received. Dr Ritter made me feel comfortable and at ease about having a serious back surgery. I thank God for Dr Ritter’s talent and his ability to give me my life back.
12/28/20 Stephen Ritter MD, is a world class spinal surgeon. Dr. Ritter performed an ACDF 2 months ago for me. I am pain free. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of care that I received from he and his entire staff. They were very responsive to my calls and questions. I am so thankful for his expertise and compassion.
Dr Stephen Ritter and his entire team were wonderful. My experience started with physical therapy to a P.A. to Dr Stephen Ritter. The whole process felt connected as a single team working on my behalf. I know that it is important to feel comfortable about your selection of a medical team, and I highly recommend Dr Stephen Ritter and his team at Methodist Sports Medicine.
I agree with the other patient went to him several times had multiple MRIs scans and nerve tests for back leg pain. I then requested a script for prednisone which I had in the past and new would help. He refused my request saying he couldn't diagnose my problem. Which I would say is his problem as if he cant do surgery on you he has no interest in any helpful suggestions. I would never recommend to anyone.
Great doctor. Always answers questions. Excellent bedside manner. Fantastic support staff. Would highly recommend him!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
