List of William J. Fecht's Reviews
I recommend reading Dr. Fecht's reviews on vitals.com and healthgrades.com before selecting him as your gastroenterologist. Unfortunately, I ended up as a patient of Dr. Fecht by default when his colleague retired. His colleague was compassionate and understanding of my condition. Dr. Fecht has proven himself to be the opposite. One of the first times I met Dr. Fecht, he told me I needed to relax because I was "high strung" which seemed to imply my condition was due to my inability to simply relax. He gave me options for medications and recommended I take the most expensive option. When I stated I couldn't afford the most expensive option, he said I could afford it but I just didn't want to. Dr Fecht had no way of knowing my personal finances and, even if he did, his comment was unprofessional. I decided to go with a medication that has a program that pays the patients deductible and then bills their insurance after the deductible is met. I was taking the medication for over a year and it was working as it should. I changed jobs in August and got new insurance. At that time (because I had new insurance) I was told I had to pay several thousand dollars out of pocket. I spent hours on the phone with the pharmacy and the medication company to get the deductible paid. The process took several months and I communicated with Dr Fecht's office to make him aware. At no time did he offer to help. I finally got the issue resolved and the prescription filled but the prescription was only for one month. I attempted to get the prescription renewed but was told Dr. Fecht was dropping me as a patient because I didn't "comply" with his orders. I'm happy to comply by getting a new doctor. I've never written a negative review but I felt my experience might help someone make an informed decision when selecting a gastroenterologist. Your health is important, and I'm sure there are better options than Dr. Fecht.
Awful condescending. Did nothing to assist me. Was 45 minutes late to my appointment and was more concerned with my deductible than my symptoms or treatment. He rushed me out the door and did nothing. He shouldn’t be trusted for care because he does not care in the slightest.
Terrible. Did nothing and wanted me out the door. Seriously if he asked me about my deductible a 5th time I would’ve walked out the door during our <20 minute meeting. (Which I waited 2 months for... and he was 40 minutes late for...)
My primary care doctor referred me to Dr. Fecht because of some GI symptoms and issues I had been experiencing for months. These issues by the way had kept me from working, so I was very hopeful during my 2 month wait for the appointment that he would be able to do something. Unfortunately he was more than 45 minutes late to our appointment. I brought papers of testing that had been done from a doctor visit which he took and did not even look at. It was clear he wanted me out of there as soon as possible and he was completely condescending. He had my name incorrect, had clearly not looked over anything sent to him, and the only thing he seemed to care about was my deductible. I had every hope riding on this man giving me a chance to find out what had been happening to me, and he basically rushed me out the door. The absolute most crushing experience of my life. He told me “you are 100% healthy.” But I hadn’t been able to work in over a month! And my primary care doctor referred me to him for testing, why would they do this if there was no possibility of anything?! How can you tell me that I’m 100% healthy without doing any tests when my primary care doctor sends me to you for testing? This man had an excuse for every symptom when he clearly had not even looked at my information, and was more interested in the fact that my girlfriend worked for the Indy Fuel than my health. This man literally began a 10 minute discussion with my girlfriend during our appointment asking her about working with the Fuel. “Do you know this person? Did you do this? Etc.” when I waited 2 months for him to tell me to get lost effectively. I wish I could speak to his efficacy as a doctor but considering he did nothing at all I can only guess. But unfortunately I can describe his capacity for empathy which is nonexistent. The friendly lady who took my blood pressure did more to examine my health than Dr. Fecht. He wants to pass the buck and make a buck. If you have a problem PLEASE seek help elsewhere. If you value your time, or even if you just care about being respected as a human being.
My family doctor referred me to Dr Fecht. This was absolutely the worst decision. He was so rude, telling me that my symptoms can’t be that serious, and then after giving me one medication, a colonoscopy and an endoscopy he said there was nothing else he could do. He didn’t try to do any other testing, And he made me feel crazy like I was making up my pain and symptoms. I went back to my family doctor and asked for a new referral, she then replied with “yeah I forgot to mention his bedside manner isn’t the best.” Please find a different doctor.
Dr Fecht is awesome!!! He is very down to earth and very helpful.
Dr Fecht was so condescending nasty he was impossible to talk to. Made me feel as if I new nothing about my health issues. Just awful!!
Dr. Fecht is a careless and defensive physician. He did not want to help and had an excuse for every reason to not conduct any procedure that might help indetify what was causing my pain. I would not recommend him to anyone. He was hostile and the exact opposite of what one would expect from a doctor. Pathetic.
Dr. Fecht was there to do a job and leave promptly when it was done. He had zero bedside manner or compassion for me and what I was experiencing. The first time I tried to explain my symptoms, he laughed it off telling me it was not possible. The 2nd time was as they were putting drugs in my IV before he did the GI scope. I explained I could not stay on my left side because I have a stint and it would kink, stopping blood flow. He argued that if I flipped to that side when I was asleep that I’d stay there. That is actually false, but apparently his ego needed to be inflated arguing with a nearly unconscious patient. After the procedure he was gone, not telling me anything about it or allowing me to ask questions or share my insight. It is my body and he is not God in anyway. Please find a different doctor. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and listened to.
Dr. Fecht was very nice and helpful during my endoscopy procedure. I was referred to him by my family doctor and I appreciated the time Dr. Fecht gave to me before my procedure. He was very caring and listened to all my issues I had been having. I would recommend him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
