Where my stomach emptied into my intestine was swollen shut. The VAMC had 4 weeks but couldn't figure out what was wrong. All kinds of tests. Dr Schymik did no tests and said as he walked through the door to my room in ER at Deaconess, "I know what's wrong with you and I'll fix you in the morning." And he did. The VA had probably 20 doctors and surgeons look at me.
I am a former patient , and I am a very satisfied one. Dr. Schymik was my surgeon in 2013 --2014, and saw me twice a year until Sept. of 2018. He did a Wonderful job on my surgery, and I am eternally grateful for the outcome of the surgery.. I would recommend him to anyone needing breast surgery...Thank you, Dr. S. Pam B.
Only reason I gave 1 star is because I couldn't give 0 stars. He and his staff are rude and will yell and degrade you if you make a comment about trying to get in the office safely from the rain. They don't care about the safety of their patients in the least. If you try to defend yourself, they yell at you more and it gets worse. They can't stand it if you defend yourself. They horrible.!!!!!!!!!!
He is very good. Would highly recommed.
My ongoing experience with Dr. Schymik has been very good. I was referred by my GP for gallbladder surgery. Dr. Schymik was able to schedule me for the following week, which got me out of pain pretty quickly. He was nice, and apologized several times for running late. His demeanor could be described as rushed, but he spent time explaining the procedure & examining me. I recommend him & the ESA office. Everyone was nice & efficient. Two weeks post-surgery, I feel 100% better.
Very good doctor! I was very comfortable here. The doctor & all staff that were on my case were kind & knowledgable about any questions i had. When i had concerns & needed to be seen i was able to get in the same day. I would recommend any of my family & friends here!
My experience with Dr. Brian Schymik & Evansville Surgical Associates was a complete nightmare, and even years later it still haunts me to this day. I would strongly advise everyone to steer clear of this group. I was told by Dr. Brian Schymik's nurse that his surgical removal of an unknown mass "went well". But after I requested a copy of the biopsy report, I found out that the mass was malignant and had not been completely removed. Yes, I found out I had cancer from a report I received in the mail. Sadly my experience with this group gets much worse from here. I regrettably trusted this group with a follow-up surgery. I was once again told that the surgery was successful and that I was cancer-free. However after I requested a copy of the biopsy report, I noticed inconsistencies. After calling with questions about the inconsistencies, I was assured by the group's CEO that the second surgery was successful and I had nothing to worry about. Only after I repeatedly questioned the biopsy report from the second surgery and asked for it to be officially reviewed, was an error discovered. Yes, the second surgery was also botched and the cancer was not completely removed, as was previously stated. To this day, there has never been an acknowledgment or apology from Dr. Schymik. If I hadn't repeatedly second-guessed this group, the cancer would have continued to grow unabated and I would not be alive today. I sought treatment from another surgical group who made me realize how incapable & unprofessional Evansville Surgical Associates really is. Almost three years later, I am still psychologically tormented on a daily basis by what Dr. Schymik and the Evansville Surgical Associates put me through. I don't post this out of spite, rather in hope that others will avoid the nightmare that I've had. Please avoid using this group.
My experience with Dr Schymik & Evansville Surgical Associates was a nightmare. After being told the surgical removal of an unknown mass "went well", I requested a copy of the biopsy report. A few days later the report in the mail told me the mass was malignant & hadn't been completely removed. A 2nd surgery was also botched & covered up. Only through my own diligence did I discover their mistakes & find a new surgeon, otherwise I wouldn't be alive today. I am still haunted daily by all of this

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
