This surgeon is amazing. I can't imagine going to anyone else. Not only is he incredibly skilled, he is compassionate and listens to you....something pretty rare these days. His staff is top notch and always willing to help in any way they can. If I could give more than 5 stars, I surely would!
Dr Rahn did a lower back fusion on me in 2013. I have had no pain since. Today is 2/16/2022.
Don't even want to give him one star. This lousy doctor is going to let my son run around with a injury in his back, refuses to help with his pain for months to this day, then literally screws him out of workman's comp when my son was badly injured at work by placing a MMI on discharge papers. Flatly refused to fix my son's back injury which could eventually cripple him, because this doctor seems more worried about his job with the company who is trying to get out of liability for said injury. Wouldn't recommend this doctor to my worst enemy. Doctors are not supposed to ruin lives they are supposed to save them, fix what's wrong and fixable. Yes Dr. Rahn I've made enquiries and you are not being up front with my son, you are covering your own butt and one part of your income stream. Ruining not only my son's life but the lives of three children 11 and under. Way to spit on the oath you have taken.
Great doctor and surgeon! Very thorough!
Dr. Rahn put my leg and ankle back together after a industrial accident. This was 23 years ago. Until only recently I have had no issues with the work performed, but advancing years have taken their toll. That being said I have no complaints with the work performed considering the damage done in the accident. I could have lost my foot with out his and a senior doctor doing repairs not once but twice in the week after the event.
Took 2 months, 6 appointments and 2 MRIs to diagnose a bulging disc. Then re-prescribed the same failed treatments multiple times before saying he was referring to pain management then not calling in the order. Also called in 90 pill bottles of muscle relaxers that did not work. (Had 1 full bottle when they wrote another) If you want pills and no relief of your pain, go here
Doesn't bother to find out what's wrong (2 months, 5-6 appts and 2 MRIs to diagnose a bulging disc) for which he then prescribed the exact same failed treatments before saying I was being referred to pain management then never calling in the order. Go if you want to get numerous pills.
I was traveling from MI to AZ when my back pain debilitated me in Auburn, IN the first night. Kept going to ER. They sent me to Betz Nursing Home for therapy. I got worse. The care was so bad, I had to call 911 to be removed. Told DeKalub Hospital I would not return. They finally did an MRI and the doctor said my spine had collapsed, that they didn't do back surgery, so I was sent to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. I didn't want my back fused because I had just read that the spine breaks down above and below the fusion. I asked Dr. Rahn, "You don't fuse backs, do you?" He shouted back, "Yes we do!" I woke up with my back fused from L1 to L5. I was sent to a boot-camp-like therapy across the street. It was horrible. They acted like my pain was a put on and I didn't want to do the work. All I wanted to do was lie on my side to get away from the pain, but they made me go to lunch and sit at the table even tho I couldn't eat. Finally, when they sent me back to the Lutheran Hospital, Dr. Rahn said he had used screws and rods that were too small. The physicians notes (which I sent for once I got back to MI) said the screws were lying loose in my back. He took all the hardware out and put in bigger screws and rods. This was Sept 7 and Sept 22. I was in Laurels Nursing home until December 30, 2014 and I was still in tremendous pain, but had to leave as Medicare would not pay for more care. I've been three years in chronic pain. I can only ride in SUV's because I had no strength in my legs or balance in my spine to get in and out of a regular vehicle. I've had horrendous nerve pain in my legs for three years. It's still there. I saw two neurosurgeons who didn't want to touch another surgeons work. I was sent to a pain clinic where the anesthesiologist wanted to insert a spinal chord stimulator to disrupt the pain signals. It only took care of 25% of the pain so (thankfully) it was not implanted. On July 17, 2017, I saw a mindbody specialist for chronic pain in Southfield, MI. I'm trying that route. I have very poor balance and just started to drive, although it is extremely painful getting out of the car. I've been on opioids and working to get off them. I actually had a fracture at L-3 that was missed so Dr. Rahn did not put a rod and screw there. I've had a bad-looking back for a long time and I think the fracture is the only problem I actually had. If they had sent me to a nursing home for the fracture to heal, that would have been good. As I feared, I had compression fractures above and below the surgery in the last 3 yrs--T-6, T-9, T-11 & T-12 and L5--S1. Thank you Dr. Rahn. Just as the studies indicate! I had waited four years to get a senior unit in AZ. I lost it when I went down with my back. I'm still waiting for a unit to open up. It was a horrible experience. I had had 4 heart attacks in 2008 and the back surgery really messed up my heart. I was finally sent to the Heart Failure Clinic in Traverse City, MI and they put in a defibrillator, which saved my life. But my heart only works on 35%. I deal with daily fluid and congestive heart failure which limits my life daily. I have no money and no balance. Yet, I'm sure Dr. Rahn drives a beautiful car and lives in a grand house. I tried to get a lawyer, but it was too late. Indiana only gives a person two years to file and claim a lawsuit. It was a very bad deal for me all the way around. I was going to AZ to live out the rest of my life. Now, my life is extremely limited due to bad surgery, leaving me with chronic pain. I never ever heard from anyone at the Lutheran Rehab across the street from Lutheran Hospital. They were mean there. I should have sued but I was a 68-year-old woman all alone and knew no one in Indiana. I feel cheated about all of it. And no one in MI wants to touch another surgeon's work, so I can't find anyone to help me. One neurosurgeon said, "Go back to Indiana." No way!
He fused my spine twice. Then had to take it all back out, and I was told their was nothing he could do and I would have to learn to live with it. Wasn't an option for me! Went to DR. Hoffman after waking up unable to move. 8 yrs later still suffering the effects of dr Rahns bad surgeries. First impressions r everything, he walked in and jumped on the counter to sit and reminded me of a used car Sales man, I shlould have ran while I could still walk 😡And just FYI the last names Vanmeter if u have a problem with me telling the truth about this man.
Dr. Rain performed my herniated disk and stenosis surgery. The results were excellent. Surgery was started at 1230, awoke in recovery at 145, h h

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
