List of Carly Amelia Carvell's Reviews
Dr. Carvell is such a caring and empathetic doctor. She really takes the time to listen and get to know you as a person. She cares about making you feel comfortable. She checks on you from a holistic perspective and focuses on preventative care to set you up for a long healthy life.
I honestly couldn't tell you what the doctor is like, but the office staff is terrible. I waited 3 weeks for an appointment. I mistakenly wrote 8:30 down, and I arrived at 8:32. I was told my appointment was at 8:20, and they have a "10 minute rule." They would not make an exception, although it was an honest mistake. So they offered to reschedule... Another 3 weeks from now. I said forget it. I'll just find another doctor, and I will. What bothers me most is my kids go to another doctor in the group, and we always wait 30 minutes or more to be seen. So had I arrived two minutes prior, I would've sat there and waited for 30 minutes. Ugh.
I've never had such a negative experience with a doctor or their office. First, Dr. Carvell cancelled my first appointment with her on the morning-of because she didn't want to do virtual appointments (this was in summer of 2020, during the pandemic), so I was initially frustrated by the lack of communication between the doctor and her staff. Next, when I got another appointment, I had to wait about 5 weeks to see her in person. Then, the day of my appointment, the nurse who did my intake took my temperature and it was high enough that due to COVID rules they couldn't see me. Annoying, but understandable. But I had already been in the office for about an hour by the time they decided I couldn't be seen, and again, it wouldn't be an issue if Dr. Carvell would be flexible enough to do a virtual appointment, at least in case of emergency. The nurse begged her to do a virtual with me so I could at least get my prescriptions filled. She agreed and then never showed up to the virtual appointment. When I finally did see her, she profusely apologized for standing me up. I accepted because doctors are human, too. She then took me off my ADHD medication despite having tests and diagnosis from my last provider. She sent me to a psych to get diagnosed again which cost me out of pocket. The last time I was supposed to see her, I ran late and when I got to the office, there was a line literally out the door of people waiting to get checked in. I think the desk was short staffed that day, and with temp checks for COVID, it takes longer now. By the time I got checked in, I was about 12 minutes late. Dr. Carvell refused to see me. It was clear to me that the desk worker who had to tell me that had begged on my behalf since it wasn't my fault that it took so long to check in, but Carvell didn't budge. This was the last straw for me. I'm a forgiving person, the kind of person that gives leeway to a doctor when they miss a virtual appointment because I don't know what else might be going on in her life. What bothered me most about Carvell was that I gave her slack after we got off on the wrong foot, but when I needed it, she didn't give me slack back. That's not the patient care I'm looking for. I left and never went back to Carvell or to Community Health.
Dr. Carvell is a wonderful provider. I've been seeing her for 2 years. From my experience she listens, is thorough, and is personable. Dr. Carvell has been able to figure out concerns that I have had for years, but had never been appropriately diagnosed by other providers. Most recently, she has been wonderful at referring me to doctors in specialized fields. Overall, I would say that Dr. Carvell is a knowledgeable doctor who is able to make her patients feel welcome, heard, and healthier!
Dr carvell was very nice and attentive. My doctor retired, so I was forced to do a patient consultation before she would see me as a patient. For this 20 minute meeting, she charged blue cross $600. While the Dr had my file out, I told her that 6 months earlier I had been to ortho indy. They diagnosed me with arthritis in both knees. I told her they had x-rays and they recommended exercise to build up the muscle around my knees. Dr carvell concured and then sent me a bill, separate from t he new patient meeting, for $35.00 for discussing the arthritis i was telling her about to make sure it was in my medical records. I spent $300 at ortho indy, I feel dr carvell owes me $35 for the education I have given her on my arthritis! The insurance company has a cap of $600 so they billed me as an additional consultation. I have called to dispute this. Several times, no response except from the collection agency they have calling me to collect the $35........ RUN!!!!!!!!
I really like Dr carvell as a doctor. I went to my initial consultation that is required to be a new patient. I have anthem insurance and they were billed $600 for a 20 minute visit. She asked me if there was anything else to discuss and I told her how I had gone to ortho indy for knee pain. They e x-rayed both knees and told me I had arthritis. As my doctor, I told them everything tgey told me about me knees and how to treat them. She charged me $35 for telling her I had arthritis!!! If I ever had to go back, I'd be afraid of opening my mouth or I might get charged for talking. Whatever happened to talking to a doctor. And seriously...$600 to take my blood pressure and my temperature???
Dr. Carvell is an amazing doctor. She takes her time and listens to her patients. She genuinely cares about her patients' well being.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
