List of Lanter Eye Care & Laser Surgery's Reviews
Dr. Lanter performed cataract extraction on both eyes. I had a great experience with Dr. Lanter as my surgeon and Dr Hulsey for follow up care. I highly recommend Lanter Eye Care.
I will just say this, loud and clear, I have never been so comfortable at a doctor’s office till my insurance company transferred me to Lanter Eye Care. They truly care about my comfortability and health. I would especially like to give props to Kathy! She is amazing and blessing to this community. Thank you, Lanter, for all the hard work and dedication you have for your patients.
I had a good experience at Dr. Lantner's office. I found all staff to be professional and pleasant. I believe that I received a good exam.
The only reason I put one star is because that’s the only way I could continue. I had an eye exam in February. As with other Reviews, the staff was not pleasant. After my exam, I stepped over to where you would purchase glasses to see what it would cost me there after my exam, I decided against it because their prices were just way too high. Three weeks later I went to Walmart to try to get my glasses and learned that this eyecare center had charged my insurance company for frames and lenses which I never ordered or received. When I called them with my insurance company on a conference call, they said there was only one person we could speak to, and they weren’t there and promised to call back later that day. My call was not returned, and after three attempts to reach someone I finally did get a hold of someone. They tell me I placed an order, but I must’ve canceled it because they never showed them picked up. They said the glasses were free to me through my insurance, but the quote I’ve received from them was over $500! I never placed an order, never picked out frames and now I have to wait for this to get fixed before I can get glasses. Something suspect is going on there which I will be reporting with my insurance company.
I needed cataract surgery and had an appt with Dr Lanter x3. I saw him once. The other time he cancelled due to an emergency. The other time I waited 2 hours to see him and finally I had to leave and get to work. He made lots of claims about possible improvements if my end result was not adequate. I requested he call me to discuss , never did, sent him an email and again no response. I have been seeing Dr Halsey and he is a great doc but not a surgeon. I now need a capsulotomy and will need to find another surgeon as I am no longer comfortable with the level of service Dr Lanter provides.
Dr. Vangets was wonderful and very helpful. Unfortunately I was told she has left this practice. The last time I was there the male optometrist and the staff were laughing about charging someone $50 for an exam and spending the money on lunch. I was there for 2 hours wanting to be seen, everyone I asked about what was going on every one I spoke with was short tempered with me and I paid for an exam that was suppose to be covered by insurance. The staff gave me the same exam in 2 forms, the digital version and then the chair and giant machine with the letters. I tried telling the assistant what was going on with me and she snapped that she knew, even though I never met her before. I have paid them on several occasions even though it’s been months since I’ve been there. They keep trying to charge me for random things. I even got a call trying to collect almost $300 for contracts I didn’t get or ask for! I’m not going back.
Saw Dr. Lanter today for an eye exam and evaluation to see if I needed cataract surgery. I found the staff to be extremely professional and very courteous. I received a very thorough exam and thereafter a consultation with Dr. Lanter. Dr. Lanter answered all of my questions, and the technician who did my exam was excellent.
Both my mom and aunt go here. The wait time is excruciating. Every time I drive them it’s a 2 hour wait. Even a visit without dilation. It’s ridiculous.
Had an amazing experience at the Greenwood location! Been having some issues post COVID. My vision has been "cloudy" for a few weeks. Between Dr. Vangets and her assistant , Jordan....I thought they would bring out a talking great dane any minute because neither were giving up until the mystery was solved! Dr Vangets eventually got to the bottom of it and we now have a plan in place. I feel so fortunate to have gone here. I am not sure I would have gotten the attention elsewhere. Thanks again Jordan and Dr. Vangets! You need to get a mystery van and take your show on the road!
Had an appointment there. They cancelled it because of emergency, then won't send my records to another dr from my former dr in another state! And won't give me another appt.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
