List of Pain Center-St Mary Med Center's Reviews
I recently went to the emergency room at St. Mary's for severe sinus pain, headache and sore throat. I have not been that sick in years and knew I needed to be seen right away. St. Mary's was the closest hospital to my house. The staff have always been friendly when bringing my children in for care. I also felt the doctors and nursing staff were exceptional as well as pleasant. Now I will say I did have that same experience when I went in. The Doctor I saw was awesome and so helpful. The nurse was great. The only part I questioned was front desk ladies who checked me in. Clearly I was very sick and im sure I looked the part. With as much pain as I was in and 102 degree temp. The last thing on my mind was showering or being presentable. I came strolling in with a hat on and a sweatshirt and I was shivering from terrible cold chills. As soon as i told the front desk ladies i was being seen for a possible sinus infection one of the ladies with dark skin looked at the other lady with short red hair and moved herself back so i couldnt see her but just hear her and relayed to her what i was being seen for. Then the lady with the short red hair said oh well I will need you to collect a urine sample for this so they can test it. Im sure my face looked somewhat puzzled and she continued to say that they needed to make sure because some medications they give for that could delay me being seen or interfere? It made absolutely no sense whatsoever to me. I didnt question her and i went and gave them a sample. I had nothing to hide but I will say that my urine has absolutely nothing to do with getting an antibiotic and it would in no way shape or form delay me being seen. I have chronic sinusitis and I am also a nursing student and I have never heard of such a thing nor have I ever had my urine checked in the past. It made me feel that they may have thought I was there "drug seeking" and I was appalled by that. I felt as though I was being stereotyped and I wish I would have expressed how I felt but I was so sick that I just wanted to go for what I came for and get an antibiotic and go home and get better. That is exactly what i did. I would just like to say that if that is what was going on and what i felt and thought was true then that is just sad and appalling. I could see if i came in asking for pain meds or something of the sort but that was not the case at all. I literally told them i was very sick and had a sinus infection. Now if I'm wrong and there was a reason behind that or perhaps a new protocol at their hospital then I would truly like an explanation. It made me feel very awkward and uncomfortable but like i said at that point i was too sick to care and just wanted to feel better. So please if someone could check into this and elaborate that would be greatly appreciated. Other than that issue the care there was exceptional and I have no other complaints.
A bunch of thieves. I went in for antibiotics and a quick test, but then they sent in my samples for further testing to a lab that I did not approve of because I knew it was unnecessary. Now I'm getting billed for this which I do not think is fair at all, but when I tried to dispute it I was going around in circles from calling their billing department who said to speak to someone at St. Mary's, in which I spoke to someone for about 20 seconds who just forwarded me right back to their billing department! What a way to get someone to get frustrated enough to just bite the bullet and pay the bill. Great sales tactic! If you're looking for somewhere that will help you and care about your well being over collecting money out of your wallet, then look elsewhere.
My mother had surgery in their new surgery center. She received top-notch care. Every staff member we encountered was wonderful! The facility is clean and even though they are in the process of remodeling, the sections that are finished are lovely. I love the free valet parking and if my mother needed medical care again, this facility would definitely be a consideration.
ST Mary's hospital in Hobart provides care comparable to any other large hospital in Northwest Indiana, however there is one major difference that I myself have encountered in my dealings with St Mary's hospital. That major difference is their aggressive and persistent collection practices. They are in my experience inpatient, unforgiving ( no matter ones financial situation and/or personal situation). Interest will be charged to ones account if making payments past the pre-determined allotted days that are set for paying off the balance of ones bill. It is this difference in bill collecting between St Mary's hospital in Hobart that is different from The Methodist hospital in Merrillville and St Anthony's in Crown Point that unfortunately makes for a lower rating. A person is supposed to recuperate after going to the hospital for a surgery or procedure. The added stress of being hounded for payment of a bill just adds insult to injury and in the end makes it more difficult for a patient to return to good health so then a person can go back to work or possibly work overtime to pay the bill in full. What is even worse is when the bill is still not paid in full after a particular amount of time and St. Mary's is tired of waiting and then they retain attorneys and add even more fees to cause even more stress on the patient. Let's face it people the hospitals the doctors office says it's all a business they are all just trying to make money off of our illnesses I understand the hospital the doctors the nurses and the aids have to be paid ,but if people are trying to pay why do they have to make it so hard on them ? St. Mary's in Hobart is a beautiful hospital actually more physically attractive than the Methodist hospitals Communiyu hospital, Saint Catherine, & Saint Margaret's So, ask yourself why why is it that their hospital is so much more up-to-date and beautiful than other local hospitals? Because they always COLLECT IN FULL AND IN SOME CASES THEY COLLECT ON FULL PLUS ATTORNEY FEES
This review is for the receptionist in Dr. Aggarwal's office located in your medical center. The receptionist name is, Yoda. On 6/23/15 she refused to let my sick 8 month old son to see the Dr. I had a 10:00 am appt. Was in the office at 10:09.I explained to her why I was a little tardy. Her reply was ," Dr. has 3 other people to see and has to be out of here by 11:30." I think 1 hr.and 20 min's is plenty of time. So, I said to her" You are denying my sick son treatment because of 9 min's?" She had a smile on her face and said " yep! " Yoda has been rude in the past, but this was uncalled for . She didn't even ask how sick my son was, or if I wanted to reschedule. Yoda is very unprofessional, heartless, rude, and should not be in the postion of customer service, esseciallly in a Dr. office. where people should be a lot more caring. I am also calling Management and B.B.B. This was not the first time I have had problems with this receptionist, and I am not going to let this one go.
Nice staff. Very helpful.

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
