Anil A. Yakhmi's Online Review Report Card

Honestly after seeing these reviews I was very very nervous to have a procedure done with Dr. Yakhmi. I was referred to his office and decided to just trust my doctors referral. After having both an Endo and a colonoscopy performed under sedation, my husband met with him and had nothing but good things to say about his informative talk with the doctor after I was done. He answered all my husband's questions and made sure to go over post care and follow up instructions. Overall, I had a much better experience than the reviews here would indicate.

Terrible..... Went in for results. In and out in to fast. Didn't answer questions and was absolutely NO HELP!!!!! Find another doctor!!!

We are a family of 5 where the recession and inflation is dramatically hitting. I was asked by my General Practitioner to have services performed by Dr. Yakhmi at Riverview Hospital. I explained to the scheduler my families financial situation and needing it to be affordable and or I could not do the procedure. I was assured Riverview would be the affordable solution. All parties involved had over a week to call to acquire insurance coverage and out of pocket expenses to the patient. I received a "pre procedure" letter stating my insurance would cover the procedure however likely not the 100% of pathology. When arriving for the procedure, the same verbiage was on the forms provided to me and sent home with me. It was to my surprise that Riverview Health charged $10,000 for no more then 2 hours for a simple procedure (my arrival to departure). Of that I was left with $1700 to pay out of pocket to Riverview Hospital. My wife and I were in the process of seeking financial aid for that bill, when all of the sudden we received another bill of $570 from Dr. Yakhmi, and another $550 from the pathologist, and $75 from the one whom puts patients to sleep for the colonoscopies (forget the official name at the moment). I called R. Yakhmi's office to attempt to find out what all of these charges are for and reached a Cindy. Cindy was not helpful, was very curt and rude, and offered no solutions to assist, she just kept cutting me off and raising her voice, as I was attempting to explain my confusion as to how this simple procedure could have cost so much and I have not been told. Instead of coming up with a simple solution, she just kept interrupting and speaking down to me as she "explained" how things work. I rose my voice to regain an opportunity to continue what I had been trying to communicate by stating, are you going to continue yelling at me and also require me to pay over $560 for this procedure? If so, I'm not doing this. At which point she stated to have a good day and hung up on me. Regarding the Dr. I was equally dissatisfied for two reasons: 1. The procedure left my stomach in severe pain for over a week. When meeting him for my follow up and to review test results, I pointed out the pain with literally no reply other then "yeah we fill you full of air." 2. When going through the procedure he stated all looked fine and that the one polyp removed was benign. I had read the results on mychart prior to our appointment, and had to ask him about the other notes made by the pathologist. It wasn't until I had done so that he slowed down and read the actual results (he was over 45 minutes late to all appointment, his office waiting lobby was well beyond capacity). Once he read the results: 3. He stated I needed ANOTHER procedure as I might have stomach cancer, but that it would be mild, and took me off a Doctor Prescribed proton pump inhibitor as being the likely culprit. 4. He tried to prescribe me an even more expensive medicine I was to "drink 3 times a day" that would cure my heart burn if pepcid or other over the counter did not work. Pepcid worked fine, the only good news to come out of this entire appointment. Overall I can not recommend Riverview nor this doctor as a result of their unexpected price gouging, and disrespectful billing and scheduling departments. It would appear to me that customer service / patient relations lacks with either this Doctor and or the entire organization. Either way, I'm disappointed, and broke.

Had an endoscopy Went for follow up but he didn’t mention any of the results or biopsy Also didn’t discuss my condition He told me not to think about my symptoms and they will go away They are only there when I think about it Don’t watch bad movies that cause stress He ask why I was there Obviously he didn’t look at my chart I would think a dr would be concerned about his patients health

Told my daughter with gastroparesis that if she chewed her food more and drank more water she would be cured. The went on to fat shame her tell her to ask her family dr for diet pills. Very displeased and wondering how he is even a dr.

He originally attributed my severe upper stomach pain and vomiting on a very small ovarian cyst that I had months before the issues started happening. Did an upper endo to find irritation. When I asked what to do to avoid pain/nausea he snapped and accused me of asking for opioids. Never explained anything, barely took time to answer my questions.

Dr. Yakhmi is thorough when it comes to testing - except for obtaining sufficient biopsies. He will send you for a bunch of tests but never call with the results or take action from the results. He won't answer questions or provide actual guidance. Take your results to another doctor and you'll get more information in five minutes than several hours with Dr. Takhmi.

I’m 59 years old gave a family h/o colon CA have been going to Dr Yakhmi for 8 years. I had an upper GI with esophageal dilatation in April 2019. It’s July just got results back after calling m. I have Barrett’s Esophagus a precursor to cancer. I’m done office blamed it on recovery saying “they don’t tell people they need to schedule F/U for results. However my Insurance was billed $1400 and they billed me $353. I won’t go back.

I have seen Dr. Yakhmi a few times now. I was having serious digestive issues and each time I have seen him, his bedside manner has been less than pleasant. After his office called to have my appointment moved up, when I arrived, his first question was "And what are you here for?" I take notes on each visit and when I brought up something from a previous appointment he asked, "now why did I say that?" Also, on the day of the procedure I was having, he came into my room and asked "now what are we doing today?" I giggled and thought he was joking at first, but it was definitely NOT a joke... he was serious. After the third visit with this man who proceeded to tell me each time I saw him and had a question that "he had been doing this for 30 years" I will not be going back to him. I am having the same issues, with no answers. Will be looking for a different gastro and would not refer ANYONE I know to this doctor.

If you want to get in to see a GI doctor quickly & have tests done, this is your guy. If you want someone who listens & explains anything that he finds (or doesn't find) - go to someone else! He clearly does not care about the patient. In my follow up appt after my colonoscopy, EGD, & throat dilation, he asked me "what brings you in today ma'am". I had to remind him of everything he had done including biopsies. He took maybe 8 min total with me and that was only due to me asking ?'s.
