Dr Blackwell is the most approachable and personable doctors that I have ever been seen by. He never rushes through my appointment.

I've been with Dr Blackwell for 9yrs now & posted an excellent past review. But since his 6/2022 merger with Village Medical the service to patients has plummeted! Can't reach a human on the phone anymore. Left vmails & no one calls you back. Billing office tries to collect co-pays when you owe no copay. Service has suffered. Time to find a new Dr.

Dr. Blackwell is very nice but you can’t never get through to anyone + they leave you high and dry when it comes to prescription refills. Sometimes it takes weeks to refill.

The office staff never answers the phone. At the time I am writing this review, I have been waiting for almost a week to get my medication refilled. I have called every single day this week to no avail. My interactions with Dr Blackwell have been pleasant, however, I will be looking for a new provider ASAP.

Excellent diagnostician. Worst staff in Indy. Consistently tardy responses.

I need to update my post. Dr. Blackwell is terrific, but every single one of his support systems is broken. You cannot get through to any human being, and no one returns calls or takes care of legitimate issues left in messages. Ever. A shame because my5 star post of four years ago read: I'm so grateful that this first-rate team worked me into their schedule for emergency care. Two hours later I had the treatment I needed for double pneumonia. Can't wait for my first "regular" appointment - I know I will have the quality care I have never had before.

appt was 2 to 3 monthes wait. when it came down to the appt they only gave a reminder the day of and I admit I had dates mixed up but who gives a same day notice of an appt? also nobody answers phone ,tried everyday for a week. nor do they reply back from voicemail or email.

As I write this today review today; it's bitter/sweet. #1: As a black female residing in Indy & living w/ the issues/obstacles that I do it was so EXTREMELY REFRESHING to find the CARE that Dr David Blackwell would end up providing me w/in mid 2017. Keep in mind an LGBTQ friendly white male who is not only user/patient friendly but compassionate & NON JUDGEMENTAL was like finding a real life unicorn for someone such as myself! How rare is it for most or many to say they hug their primary care Dr. @ visits???!!!!!!!!! I've affectionately referred to him as "Doc. B."& Have always enjoyed taking him treats on a visit. #2: I have been associated with networks like Oakstreet/People's Health etc...inside of 5 year's of being Dr.B's patient, keep in mind I'm fairly healthy out side of surgeries & general pain. I have social & mental obstacles yet work in a feild that requires me to conduct myself let's forsay as "normal", I have/had alot of coping skills I run to, yet I was always advised by Dr. "B", what's best & what I can change, but still never doing so negatively or judgmentally! I ended up changing habits because I wanted to be healthier & took my Doc's advice. Now I still smoke cannabis, from time to time, yet Doc. B is the one who was patient with his patients! Anytime I needed referrals/statement's/medications changes there was NEVER NOT ONE TIME I can say or recall where he did not provide it!!! (Staff getting those to me or done was something else) #3: I do know his staff ,both old & new have made some negalegent mistakes, & often lacked great communication (I swear I miss Hailey!) & It can be frustrating when things like that happen, but Doc's responsiveness has never been lacking, & he as human has had times when he was not well, yet overall I recommend him, & his team! I had to find out in a very hard way that I have to find another provider, I've waited a week to hear Chatam Care that I could still be a patient, unfortunately because I am a 48year old disabled American, who relies on partial income can no longer be his patient as my dual advantage insurance is impart medicaid, & the office does not accept it anymore. Just let me state when your on the "welfare" side of the health system, your deemed you don't deserve higher levels of care. Who knows perhaps this will motivate me to possibly rejoin the workforce somehow & find a job w/ full health benefits, that one day, I can get back to Dr. "B"; in the meantime I've spent a week almost crying & praying I find someone close to his level of CARE! (Would have given all 5 stars, but yeah it is because of the newer staff as of lately)

My husband and I started seeing Dr. Blackwell back in 2019. We have both been working hard with our fitness goals to compete in various events. Our coach wanted us to get physicals and bloodwork done. Dr. Blackwell was fully informed of our goals, current physical activity, and what specific bloodwork our coach wanted us to get, along with the normal things to test for. Blackwell didn't order everything we requested, which resulted in us having to wait and pay more for all that we were specific about getting. On top of that, his front desk guy had contacted my husband on Facebook and was flirting with him. If you're just needing the basics, then I can see where his services are appropriate for you. If you're athletic or have other special needs that require more than what the textbook tells him is appropriate for the average person, then I'd suggest someone who is more with the times. Being LGBTQ+ FRIENDLY is not enough when it comes to health and wellness. •Blackwell doesn't listen, and if he's not comfortable with doing more testing, them he needs to speak up instead of wasting our time. •His front desk guy is inappropriate and unethical. A verbal warning was not appropriate for this situation.
