List of Edward J. Hellman's Reviews
It was great to have Dr. Hellman thoroughly explain the X-rays and my options of treatment.
Excellent bio, hence my reason to schedule appointment with him. I’m sure he is probably a good doc but didn’t appreciate Blaise attitude.
Excellent care!
Thorough discussion with Dr. Hellman about my knee problems. The replacement he did for me several years ago has been wonderful and now we will have to focus on issues with the other knee. Great staff, too! I would highly recommend him to family and friends (and have done so!)
Dr. Hellman is very personable and explains conditions, xrays, procedures in layman terms so we can understand our conditions. I had both knees replaced at the same time 5 years ago by Dr. Hellman and just had a follow up visit which showed everything is still looking good and working great! OrthoIndy Northwest is also a wonderful place to go - everything has worked efficiently over the years and the way they are implementing COVID procedures, I felt very comfortable being in that office this year.
Dr.Hellman is a wonderful doctor. Both of my knees are replaced and are doing well years later. I would recomend him to everyone.
Very knowledgeable doctor. Took the time with me to help me understand my problem. Staff very efficient and treated me with respect.
My knees were very bad and restricted my life. I was in pain every step I took. Got to the point where one of my legs felt like it was being dragged it hurt so much. I had the good doctor replace both of my knees. I’m two years past the two surgeries now and my mobility is back to where I was when I was 30. He did a great job with the surgery, dealing with the pain, rehab afterwards, and great input to my life with my new knees. Fantastic experience. I have referred him to several of my family and friends.
Best thing I ever did for my health.
I made sure he knew other issues I had before going into hip surgery. Bad lower back, right knee on same side as hip to be replaced was bone on bone, and tore muscle in core muscle on same side. I had been in therapy due to core muscle area prior to going to surgery. I knew I would need help after surgery. I was at that time walking with cane. After surgery I mentioned again my concern about exercise, he said the knee would be a lot better now. He had also told me I would be fine on my own when I went home. I was sent home without pain meds. Following surgery my knee swelled horribly. My lower back felt like I had cracked my tail bone and core muscle was bad all over again. Week later went in for help and did not even see doctor. I was refused physical therapy. Further told by his nurse to just walk a lot. A week later I could not stand up straight. I went to family physician who could not believe I was denied physical therapy. My P/T stopped exercises immediately and limited walking to address the situation. Three days following P/T I was able to stand better. With the help of P/T I improved rapidly. I would never have gone to Dr. Hellman had I known he would not take into consideration of my specific needs.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
