Dr. McHenry is knowledgeable, compassionate, and leaves no stone unturned. He collaborated with my other doctors and together, they saved my life!!

If I could give no stars I would. Lee McHenry is the embodiment of the joke, "What do you call a doctor who got a D in medical school.. Doctor". I had the misfortune to have McHenry as my doctor in Richmond VA. I decided to see where he landed after he was run out of town for his inability to care for his patients properly. I'm not surprised to read the reviews, they are very similar to those I experienced and what I also observed while in his office. Had I stayed with him" I would have to be insane", I would never have gotten the care I needed. Obviously he has not learned humility.

Dr. McHenry took one look at my mother on the 1st time seeing her as a patient and saw the pain she was in, listened to the facts of her 30 pound weight loss, loss of appetite, and on 4:30 p.m. on a Friday immediately admitted her into IU Med. He said why aren't you in a hospital? My mother said, yeah tell that to the ER, and team of specialists in South Bend at Beacon Health that I have been dealing with for the past 7 months. Within a 12 hour period, my mother was diagnosed at IU Health with stage 4 Metastatic Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma and a renal vein thrombosis and ovarian vein thrombosis. If it wasn't for McHenry's quick assessment we could still be dealing with Beacon Health and their misdiagnoses of my mother having a "mild case of IBS". McHenry certainly takes your concerns seriously and knows when someone is clearly suffering from something beyond a "mild case of IBS".

He didn’t do anything

A very personable and professional man. Took time with my husband, was interested in him as a person. Discussed in detail tests, treatment and options with us. Would highly recommend Dr McHenry.

I’ve seen Dr. McHenry multiple times for Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction in 2008, 2010, and 2017. The first visits in 2008 and 2010, he was excellent.The last, he didn’t want to help me, and said I had costochrondrotis in the initial visit in 2017. There will be no more visits since my MRI-MRCP and EUS showed abnormalities, and his staff said my issue is acute, not chronic. My patient files from 2010 were missing when I talked to his staff. My Lyme disease diagnosis wasn’t entered into my file.

Dr. McHenry did not address my health concerns whatsoever. He merely sent me away with a prescription for nerve pain rather than trying to diagnose my actual disease. I would not recommend this provider at all.

My experience with Dr. McHenry was very disappointing and unprofessional. This was turning out to be quite lengthy, so I cut out everything else and kept the highlights, or "lowlights", and there are still quite a few: Dr. McHenry's nurse was friendly until an issue would arise. NORMAL response time to messages is 24-48 hours (what?!?), or longer, which I definitely experienced and had to call back and leave another message. The treatment I was given by the pain specialist I was referred to by Dr. McHenry didn't work and this doctor told me to go back to my GI doctor to get a clearer diagnosis because since the treatment didn't work, he didn't want to do anything else until he knew for sure what the issue really was. When I called to explain this to the nurse and to make another appointment with Dr. McHenry, this was what I was told by the nurse: "If the treatment didn't work you need to talk to the pain specialist about it. That's why Dr. McHenry referred you because there's nothing else he can do for you." Wow. How caring, right? I had no actual tests done to even help rule out other issues it could be, other than him pushing around on my abdomen. Was in the ER from 11 am until past 6 pm one day and the ER doctor was paging Dr. McHenry for at least 4 hours and never got a response and I had to call his office myself the next day after not receiving a call, which they knew about. Had complications trying to get an RX filled correctly and it took two days for them to call it in correctly. After all of this, I finally made a complaint and went into detail about everything that had happeneded and left it with one of the receptionists who said they would pass it onto the office manager. Do you think I heard anything back? Ha!! Nothing at all, which honestly I wasn't surprised about. UNPROFESSIONAL. I CANNOT believe the experience I had!!! Needless to say I am no longer seeing this doctor.
