List of Riley Hospital For Children ? Pediatric Nephrology's Reviews
they treat injured children like theyre drug seeking, my niece has surgery there and was in so much pain and had a block in her iv and they refused to give her anything. my teenager had a bad bad fall on their knee and they gave ibuprofen after forcing them to move their knee multiple painful ways. there was no empathy or sympathy from anyone either of these times.
my little one stayed in their cvicu for a little over a month and a half he had surgery on his heart and a g tube placement. the nurses and doctors where absolutely amazing and wonderful they gave so much care and dedicated themselves to the kids here! 10/10 would recommend. we will be going back for my son's 2nd open heart surgery here! love this place and appreciate all they do. the entire building is kid friendly they have a library and a kid zone and play areas for the kids. they also have nutrition rooms where they have coffee and snacks. they also have a Ronald McDonalds cafe for family and visitors for kids that are admitted in the hospital. Everything they do is wonderful!
As a former patient of this establishment, I'd like to give an overview of my experience. (Sorry but I'm going to have to agree with all the 1 star reviews on here, the service is subpar at best, Indiana is notorious for shoddy medical care) I am currently 14 as of now, but whenever I was 7-10 I had a rather large benign growth in my brain (now has shrunk) in specifically my thalamus. I ended up going to this hospital at least.. 3-5 times, give or take. The actual interior is very nice, but the care I received is what concerns me. So what I was even there to have done was a MRI (or CT scan, I forget, but most likely MRI) on my brain to see the state of the growth. The MRIs went fine each time, but it's obvious the healthcare providers were there to strain money out of my already rather poor mother. They have to give you a highlighting solution for the MRI scan to properly show up and one time I tried to go without any anesthetic. They failed to stick the needle in a vein properly five times straight (idk if they removed it then put it back in, but if they did they were easily going against protocol and risking giving me a major infection) and I, being a child, started to freak out. They looked at me like I was the biggest disappointment out there and kept telling me there were other people who needed to get an injection more than me (a literal 20 year old??) while I kept sobbing for about 20 minutes straight. What made it worse was the fact I was only 9 years old and was developmentally delayed up to 3 years from prior neglect and abuse. The next bone I have to pick with this hospital is giving me several IVs I 100% didn't need in any form. Okay, to put it shortly, you know how they sometimes give you food (and water) after anesthesia? You know how you sometimes vomit after eating or drinking after being put in a semi-coma, right? Well, I vomited a few times over my visits and each time they'd force me to stay over for fluids. Which is already worrying because they were testing urine in the SAME ROOM I was resting in.. It's also rather worrying because about 50% of IVs infiltrate the vein and go into the surrounding tissue, it is against general medical policy to give IVs to people who can consume fluids and electrolytes orally, and from my knowledge they probably made my mother pay for it too. I'm guessing they gave me saline solution after MRI (while still unconcious, woke up with an IV in me) and then again if I vomited (could be because of general dehydration but doesn't explain how they were so comfortable giving me multiple IVs in close timespans of each other). This gave me really bad medical related fear in general, it makes me physically ill to even think about a hospital to this day....
There All All Types Of Care They Helped Me So Much And The Offices Are Good Looking! 10/10
the nicu has been so amazing. while he’s not home yet, i can say they have came with updates, seen me cry & hear me cry and always reassures me no matter how many times they’ve already have. they take care of my son so well.
Staff was so nice I was having surgery today and was neves and they helped me come down they take my wait and I got a sticker and a toy if your kid is neves talk to Kelly 5 stars
My little one had labs on 3/20/26,and I pre informed the lab checkin person it might be a problem as she's VERY NERVOUS. They took the time to listen, and had three techs on board. It was a flawless lab draw, tears yes, but it could have been way worse and everyone was amazing, took their time, explained what they were doing, and she walked away with a great experience, and of course a toy and a hand written note which she absolutely loves. It was an amazing experience.
My daughter has a rare kidney disease that has caused a number of problems so we see multiple specialists. I have had to ride every doctor and advocate for my daughter to get the care she deserves. Because of Riely Hospitals negligence my daughter has lost weight, is now mildly malnourished and her kidney disease actually got worse. We switched to Cincinnati Children's Hospital I couldn't be happier.
On January 14, 2026, my child presented to the pediatric emergency department with an asthma attack and breathing difficulty. Upon arrival, she vomited due to hypoxia. Multiple staff members laughed, called others over to observe, and delayed assistance. We clearly informed the care team that we did not have a nebulizer or asthma medication at home. Despite this, my child was discharged without medications being prescribed or called in, even after follow-up attempts. This experience reflects serious failures in professionalism, pediatric care, and patient safety, and has left my child afraid to return for emergency care. Additionally, the organization has not attempted to rectify the situation outside of regurgitating inaccurate statements on the matter. My child is now afraid of returning, for fear of being mocked again.
5 year old was told she needs surgery to correct eyes drifting. the call for health discussion prior I informed them she has allergies, heart murmur and seizures. they wanted a "clearance" from her Riley Neurologist. Neurologist sees nothing (I KNOW) she has seizures. so I made a follow up with the neurologist. Surgery finalizing is postponed because I scheduled a follow up. what? Riley pediatric feels uncomfortable to do the surgery unless she gets a 2nd clearance even though I know there is an issue. they wanted to be able to blame the neurologist if she has a seizure or issue during the surgery. Dr. Smith, if you feel uncomfortable, just say let's stop because we are not equipped at this time for a child with seizures. allergist. Riley. "We tested everything and see no allergies" . just give Claritin daily. (rashes daily). eats a Reeces, anaphylaxis, I call the doctor and they say "We didn't test any foods". What?!?! Do better Riley, not giving you the chance to miss things that are dangerous for my baby.

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
