Robert J. Alonso's Online Review Report Card

I left an earlier, extremely long review. I don't like having vented that much rage, so I deleted the review. I will say that while Dr Alonso may have been a good doctor once, he isn't now. What other patients have said is true. He isn't curious. He doesn't ask questions, the most obvious one being, "Why are you here to see me today?" Not only does he not draw the patient out, he isn't interested in what patients have to volunteer as information. He has no curiosity about case history. As I write this, the anger comes back. Much of his attitude during his seven - minutes - at most time with me may have been formed by the assessment of the resident, who spent maybe five uninspired minutes with me. The resident had no questions about my case, which I had written out for clarity's sake. He didn't even try to practice medicine. It's shocking: unless someone intervenes, this guy, who knows it all at 28, will be board certified in neurology someday. Avoid.

A terrible doctor. He spent maybe seven minutes with me for a first appointment. He asked no questions, ordered stupid, irrelevant tests, then left the room. He isn't even at the level of a hack, because a hack at least tries.

This Dr does not hear what you are saying. I was left feeling dismissed and dumb founded by his complete lack of caring or even pretending too!! After my MRI he had nurse call and say it showed a crushed disc. He was to COMPARE that to my last MRI which showed a bulging disc, crushed disc, a bone spur, degenerative deteriorating disc, spinal stenosis and nerve root disorder, none of which he mentioned! He flat out did not hear or just didn't care. He absolutely did not disserve the one start I gave him. I gave that because I came a day early by mistake and he fit me into his schedule.

Worst experience in my life. This dr had no compassion toward me, when I came to the scariest appointment of my life after a bad MRI. I left crying and feeling dismissed. I won't step foot in this facility again.

I have seen Dr. Alonso two times. He is uninterested in helping, doesn't appear to care about symptoms or how they impact quality of life, & perhaps thinks patients can't understand what is going on so offers no explanation (only says to keep taking medicine or may order another test). My 1st visit (waited weeks for) would have only been 7 minutes had I not asked questions. It was under 15 minutes, but his note falsely states he spent 30 minutes with me. At the 2nd visit, he changed his assumption of what was going on with me while implying he didn't. He commented about a result being normal when the abnormal result was the sole reason I started the med he prescribed. When I questioned this, he realized his mistake and apologized. It was odd and it seemed he had no idea what was going on with me. He does not ask about symptoms or side effects unless prompted. At the end of the 2nd appt, he just walked out of the room (had never been to the clinic before as the 1st visit was virtual). My med record was still pulled up on the computer. Also, it takes 1-2 weeks to hear back about questions/concerns with only half answers sometimes. He is friendly, will prescribe and order tests, but if you want someone to help figure out what is going on and who cares about your quality of life, you should not see Dr. Alonso. I recently saw someone else for a 2nd opinion and am moving my care to that doctor who actually took time to explain things and will help me going forward. If you are scheduled with Dr. Alonso because he has the first available appointment, I would strongly recommend rescheduling and waiting a bit longer to see someone else.

Finally diagnosed my illness after years of searching for someone that could.

He saved my young husband's life. This doctor is truly a God-sent and I cannot be more grateful to have crossed paths with such a caring, humble individual. He has always worked us in. Always remembers us. So blessed to have this doctor at IU

Concerned, knowledgeable, professional.

Lazy. Had high hopes at first. Did one INVASIVE test after a tumor was removed two years ago, and didn’t get results. Instead of actually putting effort into anything else or even discussing ideas, he just passed the case off to someone in a completely different specialty. Poor service. Do not recommend.
