I was directed to the ER after a sport accident. I knew I ruptured my Achille. I had the classic story: load pop, sudden pain in back of my calf and feel a hole in my Achille tendon region. She never listened, seemed to have decided from the beginning that it was a sprain ankle even when I told her I ruptured my Achille. Sent me home after X-ray showed no bones fractures. Told me to wait 2 weeks and if still in pain, go to see my family doctor. Worst part is that since she did not (as she should) report that I told her I ruptured my Achille, I could not get any appointment to see a sport medicine physician in IU Health because my file said it was a sprain ankle. I was told, not for several weeks. Well, I called Ascension and was able to book a sport medicine for the next day, got an MRI the evening and surgeon consult 3 days later. Surgery was done in a week. IU health totally failed me- they lost me as a patient.
