I had total knee replacement Nov 1 2021. I was progressing ok until late Jan 2022. Then my swelling and pain increased to what it had been on about Dec. 1 2021. When i called about this around Feb 1, he replied that i probably had "overdone it" when I was on vacation a week before, except the swelling increase began 2 days before my vacation. It is 2 weeks later and I am very displeased and want to know why my swelling has increased and will not decrease. I am a fit and active person and am very limited in what I can do. I do my PT exercises and stretching every day. I have 130 degrees and less than 1 degree, respectively in flexion and extension of my knee.

Dr Hupfer did an excellent job on my full knee replacement. I was dreading it so much and probably put it off longer than I should have. He straightened my foot too which had began to point outward. I got along great (did all my rehab exercises!) and cannot believe how much better things are now. He is a very skilled surgeon.

Much like patient's reviews. Capable, efficient, initially good at listening, but seemed fairly inflexible when while reciting his opinions and instructions . This was my first visit and our interaction could change. I appreciated reading other's reviews.

Laid back, listened to my problem, recommended a course of action - to which I agreed - and I was in and out in about 15 minutes with follow-up instructions. Not much fun getting a cortisone shot in my hip, but he's good with a needle and I experienced minimal discomfort.

Like most orthopedic surgeons, he is skilled. For the personal interaction piece, he is very arrogant. I the recovery phase of my surgery, he made it a lot worse with his interaction style. I would highly recommend finding another physician. My colleagues have had excellent results with Dr. Shelbourne.

He has done numerous surgeries on my left knee ending with a replacement, He has always been easy to be in touch with and listen to the problems.
