List of William E. Whitson's Reviews
I have called his office for three days straight at different times excluding 12-1, which are lunch hours. I have left messages, and still no return phone call! I don't know how they expect to do business with no one picking up the phone or returning calls! On to someone who will take my business !
Terrible, terrible treatment from the woman at the front desk. I was immediately yelled at for not knowing that I had to wait outside the waiting room before coming in to check in. I asked to speak with someone else, and was never brought another person to speak with. No one wants to be condescended like that before dropping $4200 on an eye procedure.
I urge you to think long and hard before making the decision to choose Whitson Vision. During my initial consultation for cataract surgery I was offered the chance to have “perfect vision for the rest of my life, distance, midrange and close and no more glasses”. Dr Whitson was touting the LAL light adjustable lenses, which were thousands of dollars more that the regular Medicare approved procedure. In my case, it didn’t turn out as expected. After my second cataract surgery I developed a torn retina. My sight in that eye will never be as good as before the surgery, sadly. What the person in the above review stated was absolutely correct. The office appears to be disorganized. Every appointment I had was running 1-3 hours behind schedule. Staff was not very friendly or informative. There appeared to be new people every time I was there. So—do your research and consult other ophthalmologists. Your eyes are indeed precious!
Do not go to this man for any reason. I went for what should have been simple cataract surgery and it has been a devastating nightmare. I ended up with two holes in the capsule, toric lens placed at wrong angle, remnants of cataract left, loss of vitrious gel and a hemorrhage. Its been several months, and I have now had 2 additional surgeries to correct his errors and will likely need one or two more. My vision is worse than when I started. There was no transparency - he and his staff did not tell me the truth about what had happened until two weeks later, even though I kept telling them something was wrong. Very unprofessional in so many ways - touched me inappropriately several times, doesn't know password to his own computer, staff made very rude comments, scheduling and wait times are ridiculous. And now he is trying to collect payment from me, which he will never get. Its also suspicious that several partners he has had in the recent past are no longer with him. I wonder why...
I just had my 3rd corneal transplant with Dr Whitson because of a scar that developed on the previous trans plant after 17 years. As usual he did an excellent job. I would highly recommend Dr Whitson to anyone who needed a corneal transplant. Also you could not ask for a nicer staff.
We went there and it took 25 minutes after my appointment and also they put us in a very small waiting room just for the drops to make my symptoms worst
If anybody knows about bad eyes, that would me. If anybody knows about good eye doctor, that would also be me. I have had over 50 years of bad eyes and multiple surgeries, and multiple doctors. Dr. Whitson has done more for my eyes in 2 years than multiple doctors done in last 50 years. I highly recommend Dr. Whitson. Max B.
Gave my daughter drops that continued to make her symptoms worse. Kept us waiting periodically, and then had attitude when we ask questions of care. Very rude to my child. #poorbedsidemanor
Bill Whitson has been my ophthalmologist for over 30 years. I was initially referred to him for an eye disorder that none of the eye specialists in my town could treat. Dr Whitson diagnosed my disorder in a few mins. and was able to successfully treat it in that very first appointment. Over the years he has helped me deal with a number of eye problems. Additionally I have referred my own family members and several friends to him. Feedback from these referrals have always been positive. I highly recommend him. Bill Murphy West Lafayette, IN.
Prompt service and a helpful staff.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
