I’m a 33 year old female who has had tachycardia since I was 17. No doctor ever thought to look into it bc of my young age. I had a stress test done under Dr. Bushnell which was inconclusive due to my heart rate already 130 resting 147 standing and my blood pressure being well at stroke level. I was then referred to him as my cardiologist. He has mentioned SVT’s, and a few other possibilities as to why My pulse is erratic and bp rises so high when I am. I had a visit with him last week and he wanted me fitted for a heart monitor, a 24 hour urine collection to test adrenaline levels and an echocardiogram. I was kind of hurt that he hadn’t remembered my case from 10 days ago, the stress test. Also, I wasn’t asked about my family history which is imperative to my first diagnosis of heart disease. He refuses to check for clogged arteries “Because of your young age….” Started every sentence of what he doesn’t believe could be going on. I’ve been through ALOT in my life, more than most 60 year olds, stress, PTSD, Extreme anxiety and stress disorder as well as prolonged benzodiazepine use, but none of this was addressed. I do love Dr Bushnell, I do firmly believe that he WILL find out what’s going’s on, but it is defeating that everything is based on my age. My mother had her first heart attack at 31, mine at 32. My mother, grandmother and an uncle last due to congestive heart failure. My 37 year old cousin went to the ER with symptoms similar to mine, they gave him bp meds to lower his bp and come to find out, his bp was so high bc it was pumping the blood through that clogged artery. He died that very same night. These things do concern me, especially not knowing my father and my paternal family history. But I’m putting all of my faith, trust and hope into him and God. I have 3 children who only have me, and me, them.
