List of John S. Brown Iii's Reviews
I've been seeing this doctor as my primary since I was able to see a regular doctor (not pediatrician) my grandmother and parents have also seen him for years until we moved a bit further away. I still make the drive to see him because he's very knowledgeable and old school. He will bring out medical books so you can read short parts if the diagnosis. No he doesn't make you read the whole thing. As I see some people are complaining about him. I've never once had a problem besides the wait time in the waiting room. I've waited over an hour sometimes but that's my only complaint. Now with the telehealth visits that isn't a problem at this time.
Was looking for a new GP after moving in 2015. Dr. Brown performed a physical but then proceeded to talk for ten minutes about how he was voting for Andrew Basiago for president in 2016 - then proceeded to tell me all about how I should read Mr. Basiago’s book where he describes how he and Barack Obama were the first men on Mars in the 90s by using government teleporters, and how when he was a child, he travelled back in time to Lincoln’s assassination the separate times. Dr. Brown did not give me the opportunity to talk about issues regarding my health because he totally hijacked the conversation to talk about this presidential candidate who claimed to be a time traveler. Needless to say, I did not retain him as my GP. HOWEVER... he did give me a great story to tell people!
He wouldn't even write a prescription for Plavix after my husband had a stroke. He said it was because he didn't see his MRI. He probably could have requested a copy.
I was searching for a new GP. I did not decide to retain Dr. Brown after my first visit because he spent most of the visit talking about time travel, teleportation, and how Barack Obama was the first man to walk on the surface of Mars. I am sadly not even joking.

Dr. Brown became my parent's doctor, and that of several of their friends, after we left Dr. Forgey (who nearly killed my Dad when he had sepsis). Dr. Brown has seen my Mom through several surgeries, and various flu's and skin conditions, and has been tremendously helpful to me, my husband, and my kids (teenagers), especially when it comes to vaccinations. Unlike so many physicians, he spends actual TIME with his patients, and his nursing staff (Sabrina, Darby and Sheila) are just as talented and caring. He doesn't take our insurance, but I don't care. It's worth the $60 insurance won't pay just to chat with him about what's going on medically. He also has facilities at the Merrillville office to do blood draws and x-rays, so it's pretty full service. I wish he worked more hours, but other than that, I'm very happy with Dr. John Brown and his staff.
Love Dr. Brown and his staff. They are very nice, attentive, and efficient. I never wait long! Dr. Brown also spends lots of time with you and will answer any questions you have.
This Dr does not evaluate his patients thoroughly. I called in a concern of a family member and Darcy stated that there was nothing she could do with my information. Even though I stated this family member could have a heart attack based off the medication the DR gave them. This concern does not break the HIPAA laws. They do not know their laws in there, as well as the misdiagnosis. This office could be subject to a medication malpractice claim due to their negligence.
This doctors office is a horrible place to get treated. I have concerns about a family member and was not looking for info covered under HIPAA. I just wanted to tell them about the concerns of medications and issues this family member is experiencing. Darcy stated that there was nothing she could do with that information. Even though the information was enough to cause a high concern. The doctor does not do a thorough medical evaluation of his patients. If something happens to my family member, this office could be in jeopardy of a medical malpractice claim. Do not go here.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
