List of Matthew R. Lee's Reviews
I will never go to Dr. Lee or anyone within Deaconess Healthcare again. Due to incompetent employees improperly billing the VA who provides my health insurance due to my being a disabled veteran I now have a court date in Mt. Vernon because of supposed unpaid medical bills. I was a patient of his for well over a year with no issues using the community care program within the VA to see doctors outside the VA. This is a program that he voluntarily signed up for and was approved for. The staff at deaconess improperly billed the VA for a procedure totaling approximately $800 that was done years ago. I informed the billing staff at the time they needed to contact the VA as it appears the employee handling the billing did not properly bill the VA however I was just repeatedly informed that I was now personally responsible for the bill and there was nothing they could do. I am being sued for another procedure or appointment that I don't even know what the charge is for because the Deaconess lawyer refused to give me any more information than what day it took place. After a 5 minute phone call with the VA which I had to do myself for some reason the staff at Deaconess admitted to having made a mistake on the $800 bill and it was paid immediately about two days after I received the paperwork indicating I was being sued and would be required to appear in court. The other smaller charge I am being stuck with is due to the fact Dr. Lee did not complete the paperwork to renew his Community Care relationship with the VA. I was not informed of this by anyone at the office or the VA and my VA insurance card was still accepted at the office for whatever the charge is for, however now because Dr. Lee and his office didn't want to fill out the paperwork I am somehow responsible for paying this charge. This is on top of the fact I was without several medication refills due to this same reason as well and for months I attempted to figure out what the problem was, all along the staff assuring me that they were attempting to resolve the problem which was an outright lie. I ran out of and my blood pressure medicine, thyroid medicine, and my depression medication for months and was forced to quit cold turkey due to the incompetent staff at this doctors office. All of that and now combined with the fact I am being dragged into court on erroneous charges one of which has even been paid off now. I can't see how they can justify their actions. I assume Deaconess must be struggling financially if they feel the need to sue a disabled veteran that they agreed to be a medical provider for to get $200 from me. I am disgusted seeing any "support our troops" at Deaconess then they turn around and sue a disabled veteran for an issue resulting from incompetent and lazy employees within their system. Deaconess gets to throw a frivolous lawsuit at me and now I have to burn my precious PTO to go defend myself, after a hugely detrimental time off life saving medications that I needed because the staff both medical and office refused to communicate or work with me.
He is an awesome doctor. He's straight forward and has saved my life several times with diagnosis of cancer and arterial blockage. When he sees something wrong he immediately gets you into a specialist to go forward. When you're in the hospital he is there early every morning checking on you and keeping on top of your treatment. Can't say enough good about Dr. Matthew Lee, hope he never retires.
Dr. Lee has taken excellent care of me for many years. He listens to me & has diagnosed & treated me for many conditions specialists couldn't figure out. He is compassionate & truly cares about his patients. I wouldn't be alive today without him!
Great place
I plan on usually waiting about an hour to see Dr. Lee. I believe delays are caused by his need to see patients in the hospital. The wait is always worth it because he gets to the point and addresses my health issues right away. He has an outgoing personality which his long term regular patients appreciate. I personally appreciate his honesty and sense of humor. His staff takes care of things pronto. If his office was an airplane, I would fly on it, because they get things done the right way.
I had a terrible experience with this doctor. He was ill-mannered, rude and unprofessional. I'm guessing he tries to see as many patients as possible in the least amount of time. My appointment was for 10 minutes after he opened, I arrived early, and I still had to wait an hour and a half while about 10 people went in before me. Then he asked no questions about my prior health issues and did a half-assed job of taking my blood pressure without even telling me the result. When I tried to discuss prescription options, he got angry and threw me out. Note that I wasn't asking for narcotics or anything people abuse. So I wasted a whole lot of time to be treated like dirt and then had to spend more time and effort to find a competent doctor. My recommendation is to stay as far away as possible from that jerk.
I have been a patient of Doctor Lee for over 5 years. He has never tried to push medications on me as some of my former doctors have. Always cares about what I have to say and what my symptoms are. I understand he is In and out of the patient room within 5-10 mins. He listens to what you have to say. He is one of those Doctors that can look at you and know what is wrong with you. I recommend this doctor if your sick of your current doctor trying to shove medications down your throat.
Dr. Lee has been my family doctor for ove 27 years. I would even think of ever changing. He knows who you are and your history everytime he sees you and he takes the extra time to make sure that you recieve that upmost care. In my opinion he is a prime example of what a family doctor should be.
First let me tell you I went in as a new patient. I went for a yearly checkup and to have my blood work done. He didn't care to get to know me. Rushed in and then rushed out barley even looking at me. Then he charged my insurance for a checkup and said I complained about fatigue which I didn't. Had to file a claim to get if fixed on my insurance. If you want a quack that will probably prescribe you any medicine you want then he's probably your guy, if you want someone who cares don't waist your time.
Absolutely horrible experience. The nurses are extremely rude. The wait was over an hour long and he was in the room for a max of one minute. His personality, as mentioned in the other review, is very crude and unprofessional.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
