List of Samuel R. Heiser's Reviews
One of the worst doctors that I have come in contact with. I went to the ER in severe pain. CT showed it was likely appendicitis. I was scheduled to have surgery with Heiser that day at 4pm. He refused to operate because I could walk and was not in enough pain for him. Most of his notes from my visit are incorrect. They read more like a diary than an actual clinical report. He practically put all his feelings into my chart - it made him upset because I apparently was walking fine so I absolutely COULD NOT have appendicitis. Some people have high pain tolerances or are just an abnormal case. I stayed overnight because I was worried that my appendix could rupture if I went home. They didn't do another CT, only bloodwork. They sent me home the next day, despite my pain not subsiding. Heiser told me he had no idea what was wrong, didn't try to figure it out either. I went to IU North the 3rd day. They did a CT, noted it was and had been appendicitis the whole time, and operated. Go to IU.
This past month I had a bilateral hernia repair performed by Dr. Heiser. This is the second surgical procedure that Dr. Heiser has helped me with. This time he had to fix someone else's work done years ago. I use MyChart to follow medical records, test results, track lab tesults and I read chart notes closely having worked in healthcare. Surgical notes were clear, more than adequately detailed. Post-op follow up was performed with the same personable insightful consideration as the initial consultation. Dr. Heiser is surrounded by a team of professional and office staff who collectively helped contribute to two successful procedures.
Dr Heiser and his staff are absolutely amazing. They take time to explain everything, very caring, asking if you have any questions, and takes time for you.
Helpful session prior to surgery
Was able to get appointment quickly. Little wait time to be seen. Staff was very friendly.
Dr. Heiser is very knowledgeable and personable. He has a great trained staff and I am happy that he was recommended. I will add more after I have had my ultrasound and final consulation regarding gall bladder problems.
Good. He was very personable and explained all my options. He also explained how the operation would be performed and the recovery time.
Dr. Heiser is straight forward and thorough. With existing other health issues he has guided me to ensure all issues are accounted for prior to the issue I initially visited him for, as the issue I visited for has other causes beyond what seems benign on the surface.
Dr. Heiser listened patiently to my reason for being there. He asked questions about my family's longevity and health issues and checked the area in question, then presented options with a booklet of illustrations. We concurred that I would continue following the same procedures as I had been following since my initial visit about a year and a half ago. He did not recommend surgery at this time. At all times, Dr. Heiser was very patient with his explanations and listening to my concerns.
I really liked Dr Heiser and felt that he was truly invested in my health and well-being. He is very kind and great at what he does. He and his team are ver accessible and quick to respond. Definitely recommend him and his practice!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
