M. Virna Evangelista's Online Review Report Card

I haven't seen Dr. Evangelista in over 10 years, and for good reason. I am only writing a review so long after the fact, because her name was brought up by a colleague who also had a horrible experience with her. I feel women should be forewarned and educated before choosing her as a doctor. Like many other reviewers, I had a less than stellar experience with her and ended up leaving her office in tears. When I came to see her as a young woman for my first ever pap smear, I had gained 15 lbs. since the last time I saw a doctor, which she was sure to rudely address. She also told me my breasts were lumpy (something every young woman loves to hear!), because I drank too much caffeine. I found that rather odd, being that I only drank coffee 2 times a week. My current OBGYN assured me this was not the case. My poor experience with her poor bedside manner and pap smear, actually caused me to delay going back to an OBGYN for years after the fact. I am curious as to why she still has a job at the South Bend Clinic after reading all of the poor reviews? The only reason I can surmise is that she speaks 5 or more languages. Whatever the reason, she has horrible reviews on EVERY platform, which is something that the South Bend Clinic should take more seriously.

Awful.......it's been a while since she was my doctor, but I remember it very well. I was pregnant with my 2nd child (had a different doctor with my first, in Indianapolis). I was also 37, had gestational diabetes with my 1st pregnancy, and was overweight. After that 1st visit with Evangelista, I was beside myself in tears. Her attitude was despicable. She made me feel guilty for being pregnant at all, given all the issues I had with my first pregnancy. I changed doctors and never saw her again, thankfully. She honestly deserves ZERO stars.

I was pregnant and found out pretty late at almost 5 1/2 months, she gave me 3 different delivery dates, when checking me with the papsmear like tool I just recall her being extremely rough all the time, when I complained of pain when she was down there she said and I quote, "If u can do adult things, u can lay here like an adult while I do what I need to do" while being even more rough. Her attitude always came off as if she didn't like me nor want me as her patient. At the time I was a teenager, and a foster child so its not like what I had to say really mattered when it came to speaking up about her. Im almost 30 now and I will never forget how terrible she was. She actually ended up not even delivering my child by the grace of God, she happened to not be available. I do feel like had she been me nor my child would be here today. She also had me on depo vera shots for 6/9 mos of my pregnancy

Dr Evangelista delivered my youngest almost 20 yrs ago and I am still seeing her on an annual basis.  I love her!

I went to see her for severe pain and she never even examined me. No physical examination whatsoever. I was asked did I expect her to do about it. I felt like I was a nuisance and was bothering her. The staff at the office is amazing and kind. Dr. Evangelista is not. Believe the reviews! Trust me.

The staff and nurses at SBC are all very friendly and wonderful. That being said Dr. Evangelista is cold and indifferent. I always feel rushed and like a bother. She does no take time to hear your questions or concerns. She will shame you if you turn down optional testing. After several years, 2 pregnancies and one miscarriage (made worse by her coldness) I am finally switching to another OB/GYN.

No patience or ounce of kindness whatsoever. As a girl seeing a gynecologist for the first time, I felt judged and insecure by her attitude and will not be going back to her.
