I have been seeing the same eye doctor for ten years in Indy. SInce moving to Noblesville I decided to try someone new and ended up at MidWest Eye Consultants. I walked in only to find even though I have VSP Insurance, I would have to pay an extra $71 contact lens appointment, something I never have had to pay before, it was included in my exam. They also dropped a $30 fee for the retinal scan-my old doctor just dilated my eyes and gave me an exam so I could avoid that extra charge. (He did offer the retinal scan by the computer but I had a clear choice). Then I find out they were charging a $50 copay and a "hazardous waste fee". All in all, just in the door they added on close to $200 in extra charges that I have NEVER been charged by any eye doctor before. The people were nice in this practice, very polite..but I did what I have never done before..When I realized they were price gouging, I politely cancelled my appointment and walked out.
