I had a broken fibula and he did not cast or brace. He said it would heal on its own. Not what two other Dr's said at all! I was not able to walk without support. Also, he was not concerned at all about my torn rotator cuff. Didn't even send me for PT.

Fantastic surgeon and great facility Both knees replaced 18 months apart.

I visited the Riverview health hospital in Westfield after falling while skiing. When the MRI came back that I completely tore my ACL, with partial tears in my meniscus and MCL I got referred to see Dr. Scott Smith. During my first visit with him, he did a wonderful job walking me and my mother through the entire process. He had a knee model where he showed and explained every little detail and kindly walked me through my MRI images. Explaining different options I had and being so understanding. He made me feel very confident that I would be taken care of well. A couple weeks later I had my surgery with Dr. Smith. The ENTIRE team at the Riverview hospital were fantastic! From the minute I arrived until I got wheeled out to the car, I was always getting checked on and felt safely taken care of. Dr. Smith and the anesthesiologist came in before my surgery to check on me and make sure I was comfortable and had any questions. Afterwards they said the procedure went perfectly, and had all of my medications ready at the hospital before I left. Nurse Kimberly H went above and beyond. She was so sweet, and made my experience more comfortable because of how personable she was. The day after my surgery I got 2 phone calls from the hospital nurses checking on me which was SO kind of them, they have showed such genuine care. I beyond blessed that God was with the whole medical team during my surgery and for Dr. Smith doing such a fantastic job!

I had surgery at Riverview Health by Dr.Scott Smith.Amazing Guy and the staff is the most compassionate thus far.They all really genuinely care for you ...I recommend all that seek true help with any surgery,scans,and true detail to Riverview Health.

No time wasted on getting me fixed up. He got right to the point and took personal issues into serious consideration when prescribing me medicine for pain and I greatly do appreciate that. The entire team that was helping me was fantastic and if I’m unfortunate enough to need to see an orthopedic surgeon again, Dr. Smith will most definitely be the first surgeon I go to.

I had two total knee replacements (March 1,2022 and May 31, 2022) w Dr Smith. The surgeries went well and the entire team at Westview Riverview were attentive and professional. The transition to physical therapy was smooth and seamless. The office and Dr. Smith's PA, Tracy Lyons answered any questions and concerned. It was a very good experience all around. I love that the surgery was done at Westview which offered great coordination between surgery and the Dr Smith who's office is in the same building. I had no reservations about the surgery due to COVID.

Dr Smith performed ACL reconstruction on my left knee on Jan 4 2022 with an allograft (cadaver graft). Prior to surgery, he took xrays and explained why surgery was recommend. He then ordered an MRI, reviewed the results with me, and took the time to explain the procedure, including using an anatomical model of a knee, what was wrong with mine, and what would happen during surgery. He answered all of my questions during that visit. His PA called me the next day, and then he then called me two days after surgery, to check on me, and personally responded within 24 hours when I asked a follow up question via MyChart. I am now not quite 3 weeks post op, and have gained back all but 20 degrees of total range of motion, thanks to his amazing PTs. I should mention that I am a 60-year-old active equestrian with the goal of returning to competition. I would highly recommend Dr Smith to anyone dealing with injuries of the knee. He is caring, attentive, compassionate and takes the time.
