John G. Fan's Online Review Report Card

I having been a patient of Dr.Fan for a lot of years. My husband was on of his 1st patients. Dr Fan listens to my concerns and has helped the quality of my life. I Love Dr Fan. I have never had an issue with his staff. I feel like the treatment of my was respectful and a very staff always helped me. The staff are extremely busy but they are wonderful to me and my husband ❤️

Run. Run away from this doctor and his staff as fast as you can. I am a health care provider and this office is absolutely disgraceful

Spends entire time talking and does not listen!! My husband is trying to find out alternative pain relief to heavy medication and he would not listen to us asking what the options are

This individual is many things. Doctor, medical professional, caregiver, responsible, trustworthy person, he is not!! It is horrible “doctors” like this person that cause distrust in the medical field. I wouldn’t trust him to treat my dog. Horrible excuse of a human being.

DR fan him self is good. The staff and nurse that are there are rude and can not seem to do their jobs. Last part of year meds change and they couldn't get them right after 2 or 3 monthsKept getting wrong amout or dosages. Then Feb was called and nurse was very rude and argumentative but apparently that's ok. Was threatening and didn't want to listen to anything.

I called to make a appointment when I was suppose to. Couldn't get appoint till almost 2 months. Took me past my 90 days. So they said they could not fill my script. I question this they had no answer said there hands were tied. I had back surgery about year and a half ago. Definitely still having pain. Now ill do without. How is this healthcare. Told them I would find other Dr.. They knew there was no other pain management Dr. In area. I called back latter told them I would do without pain meds just needed to set appointment ever how long it would be. They said find other Dr. They no longer would except me. Dr Fan said I could switch to other meds. That's all I called in about. Very rude don't do there job. Now I have no place to turn so how is this healthcare if theres. Judging people bad deal.

Dr Fan is a great doctor! He is sharp and also very compassionate. He is excellent with all the procedures he has done on me! I would recommend him to anyone who is in chronic pain.

Worst doctor we have ever seen, Dr. Fan walked out of appointment, lied in his notes, and shared lies with another doctor we are seeing, sabotaging our care.His analysis of x-ray concluded a normal joint and did not seem to believe my wife was in the exceptionally high pain (8-9 of 10) she is which have left her unable to do much except walk a few steps (mostly using wheelchair, I push) for 2 weeks. I am caring for my wife 24/7, don't have time to work, neither one of us have time to see our kids, I barely have time to care for myself, she needs constant support and help and medications she has run out today and what she was prescribed by PCP doesn't even help more than maybe 1/4 of her pain (which is why we are here at a pain specialist).Felt odd for a pain clinic to dismiss pain just because x-ray "looks good". I asked Dr. Fan if he believed she was in pain, he said he can't answer that question. I didn't push back or raise my voice. We asked if she could get an injection to help with pain. He said that would be insurance fraud. We didn't push that issue either. We asked what we can do, he mentioned an MRI and referral to KU but clearly wanted nothing to do with helping us and just walked out without looking at us and without helping at all. We have no referral, we have no MRI set up and my wife was left in shock, confused, and crying.Staff coldly told us he can choose who he works with and who he doesn't, that we cannot be seen any more and need to leave. Told us Doctor felt threatened. What??? Assistant who brought us in was nice before the appointment but totally disconnected from empathy after.I might understand that if I ever raised my voice, tried to push him to do anything he didn't want to do or make any verbal or non-verbal threat whatsoever. We just asked questions and tried to work on how he can help. That's what places like this are supposed to do, right? We have no idea what to do now. Will probably go back to Emergency Room again like yesterday. Maybe they will help a bit. Losing hope my wife will feel better. Wish we could get help. Will try to keep our spirits up.At least the lady at the front door checking temperatures was very kind and my wife enjoyed talking to but that's all I can say for this place.UPDATE:Wow, got a letter from the office filled with absolute lies about the visit. We are in shock and disgusted with this office and Dr. Fan.Dr. Fan lied and said we asked for opiods. She is currently using them for crippling pain and specifically asked the Dr. Fan what ELSE we can do because she doesn't like the way they make her feel and she doesn't want to use opiods. This is one reason we came to the pain clinic. Our PCP just wanted to give Norco and we need something that works better for her, without opiates.Dr. Fan lied and said we refused to leave the office. We didn't leave at first because HE DIDN'T ASK US TO, he just walked out of the appointment and abandoned us. When we asked the staff in the hall what happened, they told us we need to leave and we went back in the room, packed up and left. Took us a few minutes as wife was crying, in a lot of pain, and in shock trying to make sense of what just happened. Never did either of us say any words or non-verbal indications of refusing to leave.Letter said she stood up from wheelchair and walked fast out of office when they called security. That is also a lie, I wheeled my wife out of the office and we never saw security. Perhaps they called security if they actually thought we refused to leave but we never encountered security like the letter implies.We will be filing a formal complaint against this doctor now. Walking out and abandoning the appointment was one thing but these lies from the doctor are inexcusable especially since you've shared the lies with at least one more doctor she is seeing.You should be ashamed of yourself Dr. Fan. Doctors are here to help people. You didn't help and you lied in your notes and communication with your staff to justify your actions.

Very knowledgeable. Always explained everything in an understandable way.
