List of The Windsor Of Lawrence's Reviews
I came to volunteer at this community several weeks ago with a music program and I loved it. The interaction between the residents and staff was one for the books. I’ve never seen the staff take the time to sing and dance with the residents during a music event, but they did at this place. Your interaction didn’t go unnoticed!
Not what it once was. We had to bring my 88 year old mother with dementia into my home until we can locate a safe, fully staffed and caring group of professionals who will attend to her needs. No RN on staff, no Director and so many vacancies in staffing that we saw more “agency caregivers” who had no background history of the memory care residents they were suppose to offer guidance, cuing and hygiene care. I had to take over the changing of her bedsheets, take her laundry home for washing and I soon discovered there were no towels or wash cloths in her dirty laundry, which indicated NO showering. When I addressed the issue with the staff, I was told staff had asked her if she wanted a shower and she replied no. The last couple of months she would spend days in her bed. Food in styrofoam containers were placed on the tray at the end of her bed and there it would stay there. I found countless containers of breakfast and lunch meals left unopened on her tray because she didn’t even know it was there. I started volunteering on Wednesdays to help staff with serving noon meals to the residents. After a few weeks I realized matters were much worse than I had even imagined. There are still good people who work at The Windsor such as David the cook, Kevin the maintenance man, Becki the Activities Director, Lana the housekeeper, Deb, Emma and Grace to name a few. With no RN to oversee and no Director for guidance it was deemed an emergency response to remove our Mother from this situation. God Bless those few staff that remain to do their level best with what responsibilities that have taken on.Since being home with family Mother is up every morning and served breakfast on her lap which she is able to feed to herself. She is being showered every other day, eating three square meals every day since she came home on August 28th and we keep water, juice or a smoothie at her side which she is able to drink on her own.It is not an easy task to navigate home care, daycare and the multiple night time trips to the bathroom while still working ourselves. This woman brought me into this world, saw to my every need and offered her unconditional love and kindness asking for nothing in return. It is our responsibility to see that she is receiving the care, the assistance and all the love we can bestow upon her as she has always given freely to her loved ones.
My in-law has lived at the Windsor for close to a year now. Initially I wasn’t all that impressed especially with Covid and the building having to be shut down from time to time, along with other mishaps. Recently during my visit, it was brought to my attention that there is a new care team. I’ve seen more progress, hard work and positive energy in this building than I ever have seen. I wish I could remember all of their names! Jamie was the one that greeted me with a warm smile and it only got better from there. I left my visit that day with reassurance in my heart that my loved one is being cared for.
Please DO NOT take your family members to live here, Please DO NOT WORK at this facility and if you have FAMILY MEMBERS AT THIS FACILITY, I recommend you check on them daily and remove them IMMEDIATELY after your own investigation. Just to set the record straight, I worked for this company twice before and am still eligible to work for them again, however it won't be necessary because I am a honest person and will not be silenced. On a daily basis, residents are not given the quality of life they deserve. It has nothing to do with staffing either because on some days they are overstaffed. The only department that is operating correctly is the Kitchen. There is no structure in the rest of the facility and mostly it is because everyone seems to be working outside of their scope of practice or working against each other to either get them fired so they won't have competition or to "get" that others person job. Their is a lot of jealousy that goes on in the environment. It is very toxic. In September 2020, they had bed bugs for what had been about two months already. I last work there a couple weeks ago after not being in the facility since October and they still have rooms with BED BUGS in them and the staff had been allowing the residents to go into the room and sleep there. Certain residents have bites on them and you can see them. When I brought this to their attention and told them about the matter, I now am no longer allowed in the facility. They still have the furniture and refused to throw it out. The residents room are a fall risk but when i attempted to clean it up, they say that the residents want it that way. When theirs something that needs to be done in the concerns of housekeeping, the housekeepers state that it not their job to clean it up. This whole place need to be restructured. It starts with the person in charge. The current administrator barely comes to work and when she does she sits in her office and answer emails, states that her door is always open but she can't ever help when/where she is needed. She states to call her if its an emergency but no answer. People dying in this facility is an emergency. The people under her don't support her because she is not qualified for the job and the people over her know it as well. They are taking advantage of the COVID Rules and Regulations and using it as excuse to disassociate residents from their family and not give them the quality of life they deserve. I have called the State Of Kansas, KDADS, Lawrence Journal World to report the abuse and neglect of all individuals in this facility. Once again, I was not fired. I am not bitter. This is what people do to silence people like me who is actually called to do this type of work and when people like me comes in and can do what they have tried to do and didn't succeed, people get mad and make up lies and rumors to attempt to destroy your reputation. But I will not be silenced. My voice will be heard. My works speaks for me. So once again, please check on your people. Don't work or bring your family under this type of management that allows residents to receive verbal abuse, feeling alone, poor diet/nutrition (nursing staff is often late and residents don't get their food or medicine on time because of this). Please consider what I'm saying and understand that this is no retaliation for me. I care for the residents and that is the bottom line. I will be heard and I will continue to expose these types of people that feel like they have the power to belittle or bully me. Windsor of Lawrence is a disgrace at the moment under is current administrator and with its current nursing staff. I will update this post when they fix this place.
While The Windsor has a nice nursing staff and NO Covid cases as of August 2020, the interior is 1990s outdated as are the amenities. The owner kicks residents out when they run out of money, even though most of their rooms are convertible to Medicare/Medicaid rooms. They only care about the money. Pretty average for today’s American elder care system. 5/10 would not recommend.
Great Resident care! Great Team!
In the Beautiful Courtyard , resides a Family of Turtles!
My father was at The Windsor and I wish I could speak to every family who is placing a loved one with Alzheimer's/Dementia in a care facility and tell them about our experience and what to look for when placing a loved one. We had placed him in another facility that was supposed to be a Memory care facility and they were not equipped to care for him. Then we were told about The Windsor. The Windsor, their staff went above and beyond to help with my father. I am so thankful my dads final time was with the loving "family" at Windsor. Amanda and Jacob we thank them from the bottom of our heart!
What a beautiful place! My family and I are so appreciative of the friendly staff. My aunt loves her new home. Very clean!
A great place for our Mother. Every one I have come in contact with is very nice. My sisters, my Brother and I fell very bless to have found this place. A very clean and pretty place.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
