I've been going to this practice to see Dr. Nazario since I was about 17. Let's just say I'm a creature of habit and I'll probably cry when she retires! Dr. Nazario is one of the best family practice doctors. She is kind, thoughtful, and been there for me during loads of changes in my life, always with great advice. As for this practice, I've had hit or miss with some of the on call practitioners, and the front desk staff. Overall I'd say 9/10 times it's great, but there are off days. I would recommend Dr. Nazario to anyone though that is looking for a really great doc.
Very friendly and helpful need a new Doctor for my Mother because her Doctor went to private practice. When I called them there helped me with everything and got me a Doctor with an appointment in January so my mother will have continued care and I'm very pleased with all the info and knowledge i received
I love my doctor, but the scheduler is a nightmare to deal with. I have complained about her rudeness and unhelpfulness in the past, but nothing has been done to solve the problem. I may have to change doctors. I am not willing to continue to be treated with such contempt.
I've been coming here to see Dr. Ruiz for a few years. very professional staff. the thing I like best is that my wait time has always been very short. this team is efficient in getting me an appointment then when I arrive I am in the exam room in a few minutes. while in the exam room I think the longest I had to wait for dr ruiz was 10 minutes. they are also efficient getting my prescriptions filled at my pharmacy.
I'm a little disgruntled and I think I'm going to look for a different Doctors office. The last two visits here, I felt treated with unprofessional behaviors. First of all, i always show up 15 minutes prior to my appointment time and i feel like the receptionist never want to deal with me. For example, they never greet me and only look at me initially to acknowledge that I'm there. Then I sit quietly and wait patiently for them to call me back. ( which is usually a minimum of 30 minutes after my appointment time) Meanwhile, the nurse briefly glance at me through the glass door then comes out and calls back everyone who arrived after me. While, I'm sure there is a perfectly good explanation for that, it would be nice if someone acknowledge my PATIENT presence and not make me feel as though I have the plague. It's disheartening to see how everyone but me is greeted with a warm and friendly smile but then I'm given a cold shoulder. I was never treated this way with the original nurse and staff that were employed here. I honestly feel as though their behaviors towards me is racially motivated due to other patients being Caucasian and me, African-American. Either way, I'm going to look for a different doctor. Thankfully, the doctor who sees me is really nice and cordial.
My mother called this morning to find out when is her appointment for the yearly check up and found out it was in October. She never got a reminder call from the office the day before or anything this year. She asked why didn't they call and how could she remember when they made her pick the appointment date last year during her previous yearly check up. The lady who picked up the phone yelled at her and said it's not their job to remind her and she need to write it down on the paper. Excuse me? That is not how you talk to patient. You can't yell at them! This is ridiculous and unacceptable!!! Every doctor that we have been to, whether it's doctor or dentist, the office always call the day before to remind patients, especially when it was made a year ago, anyone could have forgotten about it.
Dr. Ruiz is excellent. Changed to this practice after 15+ years at another family health practice in Leawood. Left the previous group as they seemed more interested in getting you in and out than about your health. Dr. Ruiz and his nurse Linda are quick to respond and remember who I am when I come in which is half of the battle with providing quality care to patients. I also think the people in the lab are amazing, skilled and friendly (especially Maureen). If you are questioning your current doctor I highly recommend you switch over to this practice if you can.
Dr. McCowen is by far the best doctor I've ever had in my middle aged life! He takes his time and gets to know you as a person. He listens to you like you're the only person in the world. His nursing staff is amazing and I owe so much to Jennifer, Brenda, and Annette as well. Love him to pieces, but be aware, you will probably wait. And then wait some more. But then you won't care, because he's the best. If you are in crisis, he or his staff will spend as much time with you as you need. Their compassion and care is excellent, and it should be a template for all medical offices. I'm proud to call Dr. McCowen my doctor, as well as my husband's doctor. (There is also a lab on site, so you don't have to leave for that.)
I've been a patient of Dr. McCowen's for years. What I appreciate is that he takes the time to explain what he wants to do, why it should be done, and THEN he listens to my questions and concerns. I would recommend this practice to anyone, without reservation.
Always receive great care and in a timely manner. I never have a long wait and my physician is always willing to listen and never seems rushed. I recommend the place.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
