List of Leawood Family Care's Reviews
The one star review seems to have a common denominator...the conversion from Leawood Family Care to Advent Health. Dr. Lisa Winker and her nurse Jessica are 5 stars all the way but unfortunately the obstacles to even get through to the wizard (in this case the front desk of the former Leawood Family Care) has become too much of a burden to bear. Clearly reading through recent reviews, this isn't an exception but the new norm and sadly is forcing to move on.
This place has changed since new management took over. Lots of staff have "attitudes" and not very friendly. Almost like a patient is like a product. Will be finding another primary care location ASAP.
My father and brother both saw Dr. Jordan as new patients within the month. They were happy with the care they received from Dr. Jordan but will be switching to a different doctor because of the complete lack of responsiveness from their office and support staff. It took my dad weeks of calling to get his lab results and any kind of follow up. Dr. Jordan prescribed my brother an anti-depressant that he desperately needs but failed to call it into a pharmacy. He's called and left messages asking for a call back 4 times with no response. I see from the reviews that others have had similar issues. A family medicine clinic that does not call their patients back is as good as useless.
It is so difficult to get your primary physician appointments, have to call them multiple times to get the perspective refill, nursing staff does not return your voice mails for prescriptions, terrible experience, would not recommend.
I have been a patient of Dr. Winkler for 17 years. She has been a wonderful and faithful ally and has diagnosed skin cancers that were missed by specialists and other important issues. Best of all she listens and you truly feel she is a partner in your overall healthcare plan.
They will not bill correctly a simple preventative exam meant to get % off insurance premiums. Instead, because it will fill their wallets more than a preventative, they billed as a physical. So if you intend to get a preventative exam, don't go here. They'll give you a physical instead. Corrupt business in disguise as a family care doctors office.
The nurse practitioner Bree was great during my two appointments. No return calls from my 8/11/23 message or one from last Friday. I needed an order from this office for Long Haul COVID PT per my orthopedist's nurse since Dr Fotopoulos is on vacation for a month. Guess this office does not care about ordering PT so I can walk without a cane or walker and be strong again. Very sad....I desperately need PT for my balance. I frequently have fallen, 21 times in total, once herniating a disc. Now no answer through patient portal! This is truly unbelievable ignoring of a patient in dire need. A medical office with no calls or messages returned?. Wonder if Bree endorses or is aware of such behavior or lack thereof. Truly disappointed and in need of PT referral.
I have been a patient with Leawood Family Care (now part of Advent Health)since the mid 90s and have received exemplary health care. The entire staff is courteous and friendly. They make the process of navigating insurance and payment and getting referrals and prescriptions seamless. The physicians are knowledgeable, compassionate, and very conscientious. Dr Kerry Jordan has been my primary care physician since the late 90s, knows my health history and me inside and out, and has provided amazing care over the years. They treat you like a human being and not a number.
I used to love this clinic. Great providers and friendly staff. I’ve gone here for 7 years. I called to get a simple med check. I spent 10 minutes on hold before reaching a live person. Last time I called, it was picked up on the second ring by a human. My provider has left the practice, and I was told I couldn’t see a provider I’ve previously seen because she isn’t taking new patients and I haven’t seen her in 5 years. Ok. I was then told the earliest available is in 3 months to see a different provider. I am used to getting an appointment within 2 weeks of calling. I was frustrated, so I asked for a note to be written to a nurse to give me a 30-day supply while I cool down and figure out what I’m going to do. I was told that wasn’t possible. After calling for a simple med check and spending 30 minutes on the phone, half waiting on hold and half arguing and trying to negotiate a solution I could live with, I still don’t have an appointment or a refill on my meds. I will be leaving this clinic.
I am very sorry you all chose to switch to Advent Health. My kids have been seeing Dr Christifano, Dr Winkler, and Dr Horton for 20+ years. They have been seen twice since the switch and both times we have had billing issues. Once, the insurance was never billed and the second time, clearly not capable of reading an EOB and seeing that my HRA account picked up the deductible balance and shouldn't be receiving a bill. Sorry, Docs. It sounds like it's time to switch practices. We will miss you!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
