List of Matthew P. Shaffer's Reviews
Dr. Shaffer came in, introduced himself as well as Carla, and thoroughly explained my options before proceeding. Once we decided which option we would go with, he told me what to expect. He was professional, and yet, he also took the time to visit. This was the same with Carla as well. I felt very much at peace. Great doctor and bedside manner! Dr. Shaffer did not rush. He took his time to make sure the incision and stitches were done right. Carla also did a great job answering any questions I had. Great team! I will be going back!
My father had two skin cancers removed. He is 91 years old. Heartland Clinic in Hays Ks was a wonderful experience. They truly cared. They answered all of our questions and made sure we knew about follow up care. Dr. Shaffer called my Dad and myself again to make sure he was doing ok. I was very impressed with the excellent level of care my Dad received. Thank You!
I'm male & made an appointment for an annual full body skin exam. Last year, the male PA entered the exam room with a female chaperon without asking permission. While the exam was supposed to be comprehensive as requested by my PCP, it was not and I did not object due to the chaperon. To preclude embarrassment or surprise on either mine or the clinics part, I requested an exam by a male PA without a chaperon due to privacy and dignity concerns. My request was approved only to be told via phone that a female chaperon was required, and either agree or go elsewhere for medical care. Male patients are not afforded same gender intimate care at this facility yet female patients are; this is at a minimum ethically questionable if not illegal. I am entitled to the same respectful dignified care where my privacy is accommodated in the same manner as female patients. Why are chaperones mandated for same gender care?

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
