List of Carlyle M. Dunshee's Reviews
I visited Dr Dunshee to help me with an ongoing medical issue I was experiencing. We had a lengthy discussion in regards to my issues. I tried to explain to him the type of pain I was encountering. With limited response he recommended surgery. Feeling stuck and feeling like his response was generic in nature I went ahead with the surgery. I do believe he performed the surgery to his capabilities and did remedy some of my issues. When I returned for my post op after a month I was still dealing with some of the issues. I tried to convey to Dunshee the pain I was having. In a very dismissive way, Dunshee with his blank stare offered very little. Along with that his general lack of compassion and zero sense of empathy to try and help me was very frustrating after dealing with pain for quite sometime. The tone was I did my job you should be ok it's not my fault or my problem you are still in pain. After asking for a specialist he begrudgingly said he would refer me, in a way that he felt invalidated, not hey this guy needs help I'm gonna do whatever I can to help him. On my final visit I asked for a muscle relaxer, the only thing that helped, once again he begrudgingly said he would but only a limited amount. I didn't ask for an opioid, simply something to help with the muscle spasms I had told him about before surgery and after. Ultimately I left his office very discouraged. I finally got to visit a specialist in KC in January. It's there I was reminded of what a compassionate, eager to listen, eager to help group of Dr's are like. In one visit I had three Dr's all listening intently, showing concern, and with very welcoming personalities, and ultimately just wanting to help me get rid of the pain. All of which were things I did not receive from Dunshee. I'm not here to bash Dunshee rather enlighten whom ever. In my opinion a Dr is suppose to help. Not simply do their tangible job, but provide guidance when they are at a loss, compassion when someone is suffering, and finally humility. Hey I'm sorry I didn't fix the issues but I will help however I can. Dr. Luka with KU St. Francis group in KC did an amazing job in all facets.
he did my gastric bypass surgery in 2018, have had excellent weight loss results, he has taken time to answer all my questions, very concerned, i feel like he really cares. staff is excellent especially Rochelle his RN. best doctor i have ever had!

Very personable, spends time with you and answers all questions. Thoroughly explained my diverticulitis condition. Suggested surgery but no pressure, I scheduled several months later. He didn't rush in and out when visiting me at the hospital, he listened and answered my questions. I've heard nothing but good about Dr Dunshee prior to my surgery and felt I was in good hands. I definitely recommend his services.
He did my gastric by pass and also bowel retraction. His knowledge and bedside manner is exceptional.
Dr. Dunshee is very compassionate and has an excellent bedside manner. He explained why I needed to have a biopsy done and distracted me the whole time he was doing it. I didn't even know he was finished. I felt nothing. I highly recommend him.
The only doctor who I have ever heard said their sorry for something that wasn't their fault but took responsibility an action that occurred, which was an oversight in the flow of information.
Dr. Dunshee and his staff were very personable when I needed cardio bypass surgery. Dr. Dunshee made it easy for me to understand what was happening, why it was happening and all options available to me.I would highly recommend anyone needing surgery to Dr. Dunshee!
My dear friend used Dr C Dunshee for her lapband a few years ago. She never lost weight and now has a major staff infection because of the lapband and Dr Dunshee. She started having some pain in Oct 2010 and they went into look to see what was wrong. Didn't find anything and it kept getting worse. She was put back into the hospital for staph infection that I believe Dr Dunshee gave her in Nov 2010 to drain the infection and 20,000 $ later, that insurance denied, she still has the problem. Her health has went down and I am worried she won't make it thru this. They kept telling her they won't take the lapband out but I told her to tell them take the thing out. It's only caused her pain. She is still very overweight and still has pain and can barely work or live a decent life. I would never recommend this surgery or this Doctor. Its not about the punctuality or staff at this point. It's about her maintaining any quality of life.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
