List of Amanda Hemmer's Reviews
Dr. Hemmer is arrogant, dangerous, and could use some serious education about sepsis. I’m an adult ICU nurse and I expressed concern to Dr. Hemmer multiple times about my severely neutropenic mother having sepsis as her blood pressure was seriously decreased from her baseline and she disregarded my concerns multiple times. My mother ultimately wound up dying from a complication of sepsis. Dr. Hemmer downplayed a fever as “low grade” in someone with severe neutropenia when she should very well know that some neutropenic patients can’t even mount a fever response. Someone needs to educate Dr. Hemmer about lactate discordance in septic patients and about listening to family members of her patients when they express concern about a problem. Thank goodness for the other members of my mother’s care team for recognizing that my mother was indeed septic and recommending she move to the ICU, particularly her nephrologist.
Dr. Hemmer "cared for" my father at St Elizabeth Edgewood hospital. She refused to discharge him without information from the specialists that follow him, but did not properly submit consults for the specialties to see him. I spoke with both specialties personally when they had not followed up and learned that she never actually submitted consults, resulting in him being hospitalized for an additional 24 hours for no reason other than her inept care. The following day a different hospitalist was on service, contacted the specialties correctly and he was discharged within hours. I cannot rank her "care" low enough, as she was rude and condescending to my father as well as myself, and caused an undue delay in his discharge which will ultimately cause my father to have to pay for an additional day of hospitalization.
Assigned to me by St. Elizabeth Edgewood Did not order an IV in timely fashion after repeated requests for her to do so thus my kidneys were negatively effected

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
