Dr Islas became my Dr when it was discovered that I had myelo fibrosis and would need a bone marrow transplant. He has cared for me for the last 15 yrs. He walked us carefully through the transplant. Kind and understanding, but also very straight forward which I wanted. It was explained that I should have my affairs in order prior to the transplant. The odds were not in my favor. Yet I am still here and healthy thanks to Dr Islas and OHC. I trust him with my health

When I was diagnosed with CLL I was terrified Dr. Islas has made made my journey bearable he is very kind he listens and he reassures me that everything is OK I could not ask for a better doctor.

The wait was over an hour which I have never experienced there before. I really like Dr. Isla-Ohlmayer. He is so nice and explains things well. I always feel taken care of when I leave. I will miss him.

Dr Islas has kept me free from (and in generally good health despite) lymphoma/lymphoma-related tumors after three recurrences over eight years, with Velcade being the most recent (quite effective) weapon of choice, allowing me to get to the point of no longer requiring treatment. His genial personality enables him to tell it like it is, especially if it's not particularly good news; in my case, almost always with encouragement such as "you're a sick well man", meaning, "Yes, you do have a blood cancer with tumors, but you're otherwise healthy enough to beat it." So far, despite my doubts of that sentiment, he's been correct.

As the spouse of a patient, I really appreciate how thorough Dr Islas is, and his bedside manner is terrific. He takes time to really get to know the patient and adjust treatments accordingly. We are so fortunate to have found OHC. We felt like part of a big family while undergoing BMT. So important to humanize care during cancer treatment!
