I have been struggling for a year and hoped that First Urology would be able to help. I was greatly disappointed. Dr. Prendergast barged into the exam room and continuously interrupted me while I was explaining what was wrong. He was incredibly condescending, belittling, and rude. He was dismissive of my issue and questions and only spent 3 minutes in the exam room with me. As someone who works in healthcare, I have never experienced a physician so dismissive. Whatever you do, please do not see this doctor.

After messing up three of my surgeries (which I discovered after going to my father’s urologist, a trusted and fantastic doctor, when she informed me that I had undergone three surgeries that did more harm than good for my condition), Dr. P showed up to my follow up appointment completely unprepared. He had looked at zero of my papers and relied on me to let him know the results of a test he had run. He ignored my reports to him that I was following a correct diet and was eating well (I’m a 22yr old female) and instead told me that I had “failed” because I came just short of drinking 2L of water a day. When I asked him about concerning labs I got back, he interrupted me and said that the lab company didn’t know what they were talking about and instead told me to just drink water and I would be better. When I told him that it isn’t normal for a 22 year old on a low oxalate, low sodium diet to get 17 10mm kidney stones, he said I probably just wasn’t taking good care of myself.

First Urology will gladly charge you for a consultation but will not call you to schedule a procedure. Avoid at all costs unless you enjoy paying for services never received.

People either love him or hate him. I tried hard to stick with him but finally moved to another physician. His "bedside" manner is not the best, but what finally made a difference is that I lost confidence in his opinion -- he arrived at appointments unprepared, jumped from one conclusion to another in consecutive appointments, and was demeaning when asked any questions about why. I could not be happier with my new urologist.

Awful. Has a superiority attitude towards his patients. Was rude and demeaning. Would never see him again nor recommend him to anyone.

Dr Prendergast isn’t a doctor that’s going to fill you with sunshine and rainbows, but he is a very professional and thorough doctor. He takes his job seriously and wants the best care for his patients. I appreciate his attentiveness to detail and answered all my questions.
After needing a urologist, I told my doctor to send me to one of the best in the area. I got referred to Dr. Prendergast. His office staff was fast with average wait times. He is very professional and knowledgeable about urology-related medicine. He is to the point and very honest. As any good urologist, he is busy. However, don't let that fool you because he does seem to care about his patients. I would go back to him if needed.
I'd recommend Dr Prendergast without hesitation to my family and friends. (I'm a registered nurse, with over 20 years of experience) He is thorough, takes time to listen to symptoms and explain tests, and is very knowledgeable. He may not give loads of warm fuzzies, but I appreciate his matter of fact style.
I am an old-school nurse of more than 44 years of experience. My husband learned he was in need of a Urologist in July 2017 and we began researching providers. We saw that Dr. Prendergast seemed to be a skilled and esteemed surgeon. We were not put off by the negative comments about his bedside manner in lieu of his skills as a surgeon. We decided to give him a chance. We found that his no-nonsense, bottom line manner of presenting test results and options enabled us to consider all potential outcomes with confidence and security. Too often, I've seen physicians fail to provide the bottom line information in effort to spare the patient emotional discomfort. That was NOT what we wanted or needed! We are now five months post-op and are still happy with the care and follow up. If you want skilled hands, factual explanations and clear choices from a urologist, Neal Prendergast will suit you very well!

Talks down to everyone if he even speaks at all. Was a total jerk to my child and talked to me like I was an idiot. I really question where he obtained his license.

Treated my mom with complete and utter disrespect. He acted like he was offended that she asked a question and then proceeded to tell her to "google it". Terrible doctor. Stay far far away.
