Terrible doctor. Don’t recommend. Poor etiquette and disrespectful to patients.

I went to Perry County Hospital I was hopeful that this place would turn around after getting the new hospital. I went in today for a scope. I’ll admit my short comings, I forgot to take the “navigating health care” class in high school. I’ve had issues switching insurances. I provided my family doctor my new card as soon as I was able, I assumed because they are affiliated with the hospital it would update it in the entire system. You know what they say about assuming. I would have taken that it was my mistake and learned from it gracefully, I would have waited or made phone calls for you all, whatever was needed to help correct it, if I wouldn’t have been subjected to listening to the phone call between billing and the surgeons office about how terrible I basically am because I honestly didn’t know. This is after having the doctor himself rudely tell me at my consultation he didn’t think it was necessary for me to have it done and that my “symptoms” for a essentially exploratory procedure didn’t make sense. Like I was the one who decided I wanted a scope ran down my throat in the first place. It was my doctor, who did years of medical schooling and is more knowledgeable then I that recommended this to me and me to you. I made the choice to not have the procedure done because I don’t really want my insurance lining the pockets of people who see me as a inconvenience. When I called back after I stopped crying to see if I could talk to a patient care advocate about my situation I was directed to the very office that I just overheard talking about me like I was ridiculous. So thank you all so much, for making a already stressful task of someone ignorant of dealing with healthcare in this manner feel defeated trying to improve their health. I understand it is something you deal with daily and that for you it seems like it should be common knowledge, but for the rest of us it’s a circle of Hell dealing with insurance, doctors and pharmacies and some grace and understanding would go a long way. Left a review on his Facebook and am now blocked.

Not recommended to trust this man with your healthcare….

He has taken good care of my daughter and my mother. He is very nice and explains everything he is doing and makes sure we understand it all. Him and his staff are very caring and friendly

He did an emergency surgery on one of my loved ones. Very kind and considerate. Explained everything to my teen and was very understanding about her fears and took the time to listen to her and addressed her concerns. Aftercare was great as well!!

My mother was sent to him by her cardiologist and primary care doctors for 70 percent blockage in her extremity arteries. They found a hernia in the scope performed as well and after an abdominal ultrasound, we arent addressing the blockage because "all her issues stem from her stomach" and are just putting her on a medication for her stomach that he said her insurance may not even cover. Even though the blockage could be the culprit for her leg and hip pain over the years as well as some of her stomach pain. He was also rude and acted as if he didnt care at all. When your patient leaves your office crying because you've made her feel stupid for even questioning why she feels bad, there is a problem.

Wonderful Dr!! I have chronic pancreatitis, have seen many doctors with no improvement, most acted like they could careless..I highly recommend Dr west!!

Dr West performed my mother's surgery 3 years ago from her gallbladder rupturing and causing an infectious abscess that made her deathly ill. He was very professional and thorough and made sure us daughter's understood everything he did and what he wasn't able to do until a later time. Dr West is a very knowledgeable man and excellent surgeon.

Dr. West cared for me when I stayed in the hospital for my lung collapsing twice in a few days. Afterwards he began seeing me for regular check ups to keep a medical condition in check. He was friendly, spoke freely, and made sure I understood what was being done and what it would do. Great service, nice, and friendly.

Having had two office visits and minor surgery with Dr. West I have been very pleased in all contacts with him and office staff. Highly impressed with his bedside manner and has always taken all time needed to talk and explain to me. Have complete trust in him.
