List of Russell Carter's Reviews
I would give zero stars if it would let me.
Was in Vanderbilt where I had went into a coma because they would not review recommendations from PCP and letter from APF about porphyria. Was carried out by spouse and brought to Baptist. Dr. Carter took over my care which had been ongoing in hospitals for over 3 weeks. Within 2 days he had found medication schedule to assist problem and within 3 days had diagnosis. Was in hospital for 10 days under his very scrupulous care and he followed my porphyria md recommendations for IV at all times and psychiatric md meds. Great doc. Little rushed sometimes but will be going to him again for hepatology problem in office. Trust him to listen and follow directions and explain. He may seem a little short but that is because he is very intelligent.

Dr. Carter was very in compassionate, had a terrible bedside manner and didn’t even see my husband until AFTER he did his colonoscopy. When he went into the office for a consult, he saw the NP. Dr. Carter didn’t come into the room before the procedure or even talk to him in the procedure room. Also, he offered no treatment for my husband’s gastro diagnoses. Wouldn’t recommend him.
I am a new patient, with Dr Carter, so I can only comment on my first visit. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The office was very neat and clean. Dr Carter took his time to answer all my question,he and his staff made you feel very comfortable like a person, not a number. I would definitely reccomend Dr Carter.
I have been a patient of Dr. Carter for 22 years or so. I began seeing him in my late 30s due to family history of colon cancer. At 42 I was diagnosed with colon cancer, which he found. Thankfully, I have been cancer free for 16 years. He and his office staff are wonderful. I have received excellent care from him and so thankful he has been a part of my healthcare team.
I agree with all of the negative reviews. He’s acts all nice until you question him on his reasonings. His nurse practitioners are the same way. No one knows everything and patients know their bodies better than a doctor that just got a brief summary of their symptoms. If you have any issues that are not extremely common I wouldn’t recommend.
Dr. Carter has performed 3 colonoscopies on me and all of them went well. He was very concerned and diligent about obtaining accurate diagnosis, quick treatment, and follow-up. Dr. Carter was excellent at explaining my situation and my options. He even called me on a weekend to give me updated lab results.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
