"After my first visit, I contacted the office to discuss modifying my medication because of difficulty swallowing the pill. I never received a call back so I tried calling back several times over several months but never received a call back from the nurse. My next appointment was for a nerve study for which the office convinced me that I could wait another month and have the Doctor perform the test. During the visit a nurse conducted the first part of the test and when the Doctor came in, he was talking to a friend on his smart watch and ear buds nearly the whole visit, laughing and explaining that they were plotting the best way to tell his wife they had a golf date that weekend. After the test, I asked if I could talk about the medication he prescribed and he said, “that’s what the follow up visit was for “ as he walked away. During the test, the nurse apparently took my wheelchair away and no one was in sight so I had to struggle to get back to the waiting room holding the wall the whole way. I could not bring myself to give a one star rating so I am leaving a very generous two stars."

I appreciate his personality with his patients. He has a true passion for his occupation and I am grateful to be cared for by him.His nurse doesn’t return phone calls as the voicemail states. It ask to not leave duplicate messages but a phone call will be returned within 24 hours and that is NOT true. She doesn’t represent Dr Acosta well.
I really feel listened to by the doctor. He is knowledgeable and kind. The staff is very helpful . The wait time is very reasonable as well.
Dr Acosta brought me back from crippled I could not walk, wheelchair, crutches, walker, to full walking with no assistance... Incredible, and the transfusion cured m eye site, headaches, blood pressure, and many other small but significant issues health wise I had.. This man has my full respect and appreciation 100%...
Friendly staff especially Joann.
Doctor is super friendly, has a great bedside manner, and really listened like no doctor I've seen in over two years for a chronic condition. Finally someone who will help me with medications and will run all of the tests to get to the bottom of it. Very pleased so far.
I have been trying to get someone to answer the phone for 40 minutes to get a script renewed. Called the pharmacy, they faxed in a request a week ago. Nothing. Evidently, Dr. Acosta has moved, and the pharmacy was not given the new FAX number, or the office didn't honor it. Who knows. All you get via phone is those stupid recordings and those horrible musicals. To get an honest human to answer the phone without putting you on hold again is almost impossible. Good thing it wasn't a script for life giving drugs. I'd be dead by now. Disgusting. What ever happened to the practice of hiring sufficient personnel to address patients needs ?
He needs to retire, NOW!!! Before he gives another wrong dianosis
Dr. Acosta did one thing right. He advertised what to expect for the entire organization of OLOL. His office is truly a disgrace to this profession. Phone calls are not answered nor returned. Excuses are made and due diligence is never followed through. Will never recommend Dr. Acosta's office or ANY OLOL provider based on this experience.
Will not return calls or emails. When I complained he shut access off on OLOL Mychart messaging system. Not the best way to treat a patient. Shame on him
Nurses are absolutely rude. Dr. Acosta doesn't care about his patients. Horrible firm.
Front Office Staff.....GHETTO HOODRATS with all CAPITAL LETTERS....
What an excellent, knowledgable and compassionate physician, Dr Acosta is. Top notch!
Tried to give 0 stars. We are moving doctors this time, as 5 times we have come here. He come 20-40 minutes early for appointments, and again today wait over 1 hr pass our appt time. Staff could care less, they mainly gossip loudly so everyone care hear. They rarely answer ringing phones, but answer personal cel phones at desk. No wonder wife or I have to come here to talk to someone to answer a question or schedule appt, since they never answer phone here. Like the doctor Acosta, but never felt more like a 'number' than a 'person'.
ZERO STARS!! I absolutely dislike this place! It's a freaking circus!! I can't believe the staff, or the doctor. He dismissed everything I told him and basically laughed in my face saying 43 is way to old to have MS even after I told him I have been dealing with all of these symptoms for many years!! Where did the staff come from?? Weird crazy place!! I'm looking for another doctor as of right now!! And one that doesn't tell me that I can only give one symptom😕
Dr. Acosta is always happy and smiling and his staff is the same way. I've been to many Neuros and none can come close to Dr. Acosta. He is NOT apathetic and works hard to find a helpful solution to some tough issues. God bless him and his staff.
The best neurologist I've ever seen really down to earth in explaining everything in simple words would difinely recommend him to everyone
My dad and I have both been patients of Dr. Acosta. I called to make another appointment , and the office at the Neuromedical office in Baton Rouge by Perkins Rowe was unable or wouldn't give me his whereabouts or phone number. We were so pleased with his care, and would love to continue to have him as our neurologist. Does anyone know where he is now located?
Great doctor, has the best bed side manner, Knows how to deal with my husband who had a stroke in 2013 who is very obstinate .
