Dr Richard Byrd literally saved my life. This man is brilliant, he takes his time, he listens and he cares. I was as close to death as one could get when I was wheeled in his office. He is the epitome of professionalism. I had a colon resection and I did great, all because of his great care. His staff if amazing also.

Dr Byrd is the most wonderful and caring physician I have ever had! He is honest and thorough and has a wonderful bedside manner. You never feel like he is rushing to see someone else. I recommend him highly!

I truly cannot come up with the right words to describe Dr. Byrd. He’s been my surgeon going on 21 years now. The man saved my life when I was 15 by pointing out to my other not so good doctors that surgery would needs to be done ASAP due to cancer developing in my colon. I had literally lived in the bathroom of my home 2 months I was so sick. Just by chance when I was having a scope done one morning,Dr. Byrd happened to be there and my other doctors asked him his opinion. My surgery was done days later and Dr. Byrd was there for me every step of the way. The care this man has showed me and my family over the last 21 has been such a blessing. He truly cares about his patients, doesn’t rush and will always do what’s best for each particular patient. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t thank God for this man In short, this is the best Colon/ Rectal surgeon not only in Baton Rouge but across the southeast. It’s been 21 years since my first surgery and I still have my internal pouch made from my small intestines which is unheard of.
