List of David R. Powers's Reviews
Friendly with a great bedside manner. He will listen and try to find the root cause of issues instead of just prescribing pills for symptoms. Ms. Kayla is a blessing.
I am so thankful to have found Dr. Mares for help with my blood pressure. No one has ever been able to have my pressures under control until I met Dr. Mares. He really took his time explaining to me what was going on, and how we were going to fix it.
the most obnoxious uncaring “physician”. Compassion is not in his portfolio He paid no attention to recent labs and tests. Money seemed to be his focus and once he got on that rant i as a patient received his ill will I definitely would not recommend him. Money was his issue and money drove the focus of my appointment that by the way was over an hour late if i could give less than one star i would
I have been a patient of Dr. Powers for years....he is one of my all time favorite people/doctors. He is knowledgeable, compassionate and is open to exploring new treatments in the field of Nephrology. I believe that medicine is not only about treating the condition/disease; it's also about the connection and trust you have with your doctor. I highly recommend Dr. Powers and his staff if you want someone who is well informed and experienced, and shares his expertise in a caring, insightful manner.
So I’ve seen Dr Powers for many many years and he seemed to be a friendly knowledgeable Dr. well my progress worsened and meds like Blood Pressure meds were going unfilled. I would have the pharmacy and myself call to have them filled but to no avail. The girl that handles the refills had nothing but attitude and would never get messages to the Dr. my last visit Dr. powers was going to look into new treatments (as in his own words they had many new ones) and after the first of the year start me on something. Well this never happened. I again would call the girl in the office to get him the message and it never gets to him. This is my health and what little I have left I take very serious. I was also suppose to start some new IV Chemo type treatment but that as well hasn’t happened. When I noticed things changing is when my private insurance changed and the marketplace put me on Medicaid. Dr. Powers made a comment when he realized my insurance changed he said (this is too much I’m not even getting paid for this). I thought it was one of his jokes but that and the way care changed was an eye opener. He suddenly wouldn’t write certain meds anymore and now today I get a letter saying because of my poor compliance to medical care, he will no longer see me. So now I’m confused what poor compliance? I take my meds, I go to my appts (when they don’t cancel) and I wait for him to do what he says he will but doesn’t. What the letter should say is (because if your insurance change) It no longer benefits me to see you. So needless to say, I’m quite disappointed in the Dr I once put my medical care in his hands. He also needs to evaluate his staff that gives him selective messages which not only according to me but persons within his staff see is it’s affecting medical care of his patients. I’ll be sure my lawyer sees everything that occurred. You don’t play games when it comes to the lives and care of patients.
I don’t see Dr Powers in Bogalusa, I see the top say Avenue F but I am his patient and love to see him, miss seeing him and joking in person since this pandemic stuff . Saw him on video a few weeks ago and he’s still joking and funny . I really like Dr Powers and he’s a very very smart man . If you ask a question he has an answer . Mrs. Brenda the other doctor is nice and she’s learning from the best doctor around . That new lady I think her name Stephanie has to be the most patient woman I know , getting me set up on that video was a full appointment itself, she was so nice and kept assuring me to not worry and that we would get it and I did . I didn’t think I could do anything like that and didn’t know my phone did all that stuff . Thank you Dr Powers for all you do for my health . I made sure my daughter helped me with this
Amazing dr, amazing staff! Very professional, extremely caring!
Great love him
He thoroughly explains all test results and treatment recommendations. He listens carefully to the medical history and asks questions until he satisfied he has the best picture of a medical issue.
Dr.Powers was referred to me form my pcp about 5 years ago. I have been very pleased with his care and knowledge of me and my condition.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
