List of James E. Carinder's Reviews
Dr Carinder treated my best friend for Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. He gave her 3 more years she never thought she would have. A very kind, compassionate and intelligent Doctor.
Dr. Carinder is kind and loving doctor only surpass by his knowledge of medicine. If you are looking for a doctor to hold your hand through treatment you got the wrong doctor. However. If you want a doctor with the knowledge to read you blood test results and give you the best treatment to fight cancer Dr. C is your man. He is a miracle worker that save my life, my brother, sister-in-law., and niece. I would recommend him to everyone I know. You are in good hands with Dr C
My mother developed a very aggressive breast cancer at age 92. Since my mother wanted treatment , as an RN I asked all the oncology nurses I knew and the consensus was unanimously Dr. Carinder. He stays up to date on the latest treatments and is very patient and clear in explaining the options. Dr Carinder is very conscientious and deeply cares about his patients. Although the cancer had already spread to one lymph node, Dr Carinder worked with the STPH tumor board to shrink the cancer prior to the surgery she requested. The PET scan now shows no evidence of cancer anywhere including the lymph node which was too risky to operate on when she had her lumpectomy. She tolerated the chemo well and is now in a targeted therapy to prevent it from coming back. During these five years under his care, my mother has had an excellent quality of life and so appreciates that she has been able to enjoy her great grandchildren and enjoy life.
I’ve been with Dr. Carrender since 1/2012. I was a patient at Slidell followed him to Covington although I am a Mississippi resident. I plan to stay with him until he retires.. for all my follow ups . I don’t hesitate to contact him for advise and referrals. He’s most knowledgeable in all fields and isn’t afraid to take the time to address and make recommendations. He’s the best Onicoligist and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I’m cancer free because of him & my breast surgeon. Thank You Dr. Carrinder and your awesome staff! God Bless! Mississippi via Manhattan
Doesn’t return calls. Saw him for one appointment that didn’t even last 15 minutes.
Dr Carinder has always been very professional & thorough. His staff is also very friendly. I don't mind going to any of my office visits. He is a very good cancer doctor.
I will not doubt his knowledge but his communication and bed side manners are HORRENDOUS!!! I left him a message a week before my mother passed with NO return phone call. My brother left a message 5 days before her passing with no return phone call. He visited my mother in the hospital once (she was in there 3 days). On that visit my father had some questions for him. He excused himself to the nurses station and said he would return right after speaking with the nurse. Not only did he not return to the room, he left the hospital completely, leaving my father with many unanswered questions. This so called Oncologist Dr should have his license SUSPENDED or REVOKED!!! As a family, all we wanted was some direction and advice on how to proceed with her diagnosis and reduce the excruciating pain she was in. After all, isn't that what an Oncologist does? Well, not in this case. RIP mom. Next up: La Dept of Health, La Board of Medical Examiners P.S. I had to give 1 star in order to post. Don't want anyone else to go through what my family did.
My sister was unfortunately diagnosed during the pandemic when no one was allowed to accompany her to her office visits. Her poor physical and emotional health had her at a huge disadvantage. We were sure we weren't getting the correct information. We Left messages for CARINDER to call. HE RETURNED NONE OF THE MESSAGES. NOT THIS DOCTOR!!! Both nephews left messages but again. NO RETURNED CALLS. NOT THIS DOCTOR!!! We were never, ever given the opportunity to speak with him to see what the plan was. My brother-in-law got a very brief meeting with him during a hospitalization when he happened to stop by . After a few minutes in this meeting, he excused himself saying he would be right back. He went to the nurses station then left the hospital and never returned to the room to continue the conversation. The discussion of putting her in hospice care, came from a hospitalist that was assigned to her case through the emergency room admission. NOT FROM THIS DOCTOR...NOT FROM THIS ONCOLOGIST!!! if you are looking for an oncologist....keep looking.
Thorough, thoughtful, and personable with his patients. The staff is efficient and polite.
I’v been going to Dr. Carinder for about nine years. He’s very nice and takes his time with his patients.. When he left the Slidell office I followed him to Covington as did a lot of his patients. I’d recommend him to anyone who needs a hematologist, he’s that good.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
